Jets drop outside top 10 in power rankings

Admin - October 20, 2009

The New York Jets took another dive in power rankings, dropping out of the top 10 on all 3 major sports websites. ESPN had the Gang Green down 9 places - from #9 to #18. FOX Sports had them down only 3 points (from #8 to #11), while CBS Sports lowered the Jets' stock from #13 to #16.

Here's what the top 3 websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN: All of a sudden, Mark Sanchez is starting to play like a rookie.

FOX Sports: RPI UPDATE: Those first three wins don't seem so superior nowadays. The Jets' new-look defense punked the Texans in the opener, Tom Brady was clearly still very rusty in Week 2 and the Titans are clearly a collapsing mess and now 0-6. After Mark Sanchez reminded us of his rookie status at NO, the Jets have dropped back-to-back games vs. losing teams.
LOOKING AHEAD: There's a healthy blend of contenders and pretenders on the remaining schedule, lending hope that they can coax a playoff berth together if they can support the kid QB.

CBS Sports: Three weeks have turned Mark Sanchez from the star into a goat. If he plays like that one more week, a change could be coming.
