Disgraceful loss to Pats results in power rankings fall

Admin - December 7, 2010

As most of us expected, last night's debacle against the New England Patriots resulted in a big drop in power rankings on all three major sports websites. All that pregame bravado led to one of the most disgraceful performances we've ever witnessed from the Gang Green, and yes we've seen quite a few of those over the years. ESPN lowered the Jets' stock to #6, their lowest position since Week 4 (the Jets were #3 in ESPN rankings last week). FOX Sports had the Jets at #9, also the lowest since Week 4 (last week FOX had the Jets at #3 as well). Finally, CBS Sports put Rex Ryan's gang at #5 (down from #2 last week).

Here's what the top 3 websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN:  The Jets talked a great game. Too bad they couldn't play one against the Patriots.

FOX Sports: Based on their blowout loss to the Patriots, I had no choice but to drop the Jets down significantly. The absence of starting SS Jim Leonhard was evident against the division rival Patriots, but there's not much they can do to replace him at this point. They'll just have to execute the scheme better on the back-end. And about those Mark Sanchez for MVP votes Jet fans ... can you revoke them?

CBS Sports: They sure seem quiet now. The Patriots showed them you can talk all you want, but you better back it up. Mark Sanchez was dreadful in the big game. That can't happen again.
