David Harris receives contract extension

Admin - August 2, 2011

The New York Jets just announced that MLB David Harris was given a contract extension. The team placed franchise tag on Harris back in Ferbuary, making his salary cap number for this year $10,190,000. The new deal will definitely lower this number, giving the Jets so much needed cap room to sign more players. The new deal is $36M for 4 years, which includes $29.5M in guaranteed money, which is the largest guaranteed amount in history for an inside linebacker.

The Gang Green also held their first open practice session earlier today. Both starting wide receivers, WR Santonio Holmes and WR Plaxico Burress, were out as free agent signings cannot practice before August 4th. WR Jerricho Cotchery and RB LaDainian Tomlison did not participate either. We'll have a report from today's session along with pictures later this evening.
