Jets Player Release

Jets release Cook, DeVito out against Washington

Admin - November 28, 2011

According to various reports, the New York Jets released S Emanuel Cook earlier today. S Tracy Wilson will be elevated from practice squad to take Cook's place on the active roster. Cook was signed by the Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and released before the start of the 2009 season. He was then briefly signed in 2010 and released again. Later that year Cook was re-signed by the Jets to a 3-year deal following the injury to safety S Jim Leonhard. Cook received no signing bonus, so his release won't cost the Jets anything in the future.

DL Mike DeVito suffered an MCL injury in his left knee yesterday against the Buffalo Bills and will likely miss the next game against the Washington Redskins. This is not the same knee that sidelined DeVito earlier this season.

The Gang Green also cut LB Eddie Jones from practice squad, LB Ricky Sapp was re-signed to take his place on practice squad.
