Geno Smith wins AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Admin - October 9, 2013

QB Geno Smith's impressive performance against the Atlanta Falcons did not go unnoticed, as he was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Smith completed 16 of 20 passes for 199 yards, 3 TD and 0 INT. He also led the team in the final two minutes for his second fourth-quarter comeback of the season. He has become just the second rookie quarterback in the past 20 seasons to earn a player of the week award in his first five weeks. Redskins QB Robert Griffin III earned the honor last season.

Smith's 80% completion rate against the Falcons was the second highest completion percentage by any rookie in a three-touchdown game in the NFL history. And what's even more impressive is that Smith beat no other than future Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning to win this award.
