Jets move up in power rankings after beating Oakland

Admin - December 12, 2013

The New York Jets finally moved up in power rankings after beating the Oakland Raiders last Sunday. While most websites barely moved them up, taking into consideration that the Raiders are one of the worst teams in the league, CNN SI drastically launched the Jets into #19 position (11 places up). ProFootballTalk put Rex Ryan's team at #19 as well, which is 4 spots higher compared to last week. CBS Sports has them at #20 (3 places up). Both ESPN and FOX Sports places The Gang Green at #21, up from #23 and #22 respectively.

Here's what all these websites had to say about the Jets:

ESPN: Geno Smith was 3-of-4 with a touchdown on passes at least 15 yards downfield Sunday. Smith had five interceptions and no touchdowns in the previous three games on deep throws.

FOX Sports: The Jets scored a season-best 37 points on Sunday and had just one turnover. When the Jets have one or fewer giveaways, they are a perfect 4-0 on the season.

CBS Sports: They're still alive and Geno Smith showed some life. They still have a lot to do to get into the postseason party.

ProFootballTalk: The possibility that the Jets will qualify for the playoffs could be the best argument against expanding the field.

CNN SI: Geno Smith's 88.6 QB rating in Sunday's win over Oakland was his best since a Week 5 victory at Atlanta. Better yet, Smith broke a rather absurd five-game touchdown pass-less skid.
