I had a feeling the Jets would win the division after their great off season, congrats Jet fans. Your team is looking strong and getting stronger by the week. Good running game and stout run D is how you win. The Jets look to be the best team in the division.

the Dolphins' remaining schedule is more favorable than the Jets...so i'm not counting any chickens before they hatch yet....but thanks for the kind words.

I never thought Miami would be a challenger so soon. But they have substantially turned things around in only 1 year. Parcells really is a miracle worker.

I understand your wanting to see more before you let yourself think the Jets have made it over the hump, believe me. As for Miami, we have been winning with smoke and mirrors. I know it's only a matter of time for us, we're just not where we need to be as far as our talent is concerned, maybe next year at this time. I will be thrilled with an 8-8 season. But the Jets should be one of the top Conference teams this year.

Well to be fair, we shouldn't have lost 15 games last year. We lost a lot of talent due to injury and our coahing was a joke. I think Miami is starting to show we can compete, we're just not ready to lead.

I have to give a little credit to Sparano...he figured out a way to utilize both R.Brown and R.Williams efficiently...

I don't think injuries were the main reason for the poor showing last season. Miami had been building to that 15 loss season over many years. They had numerous poor drafts with little talent being added to the ballclub. Ginn in the first round ?? John Beck as the QB to lead the franchise ?? Just not good picks.

The first thing Parcells did was purge 1/2 of the roster. Making the hard but correct decisions to let Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas go. Then the 2008 draft was excellent, building up both of the lines (Parcell's trademark). Signing the number one pick before the draft so there was no holdout. And he decided to run a defensive scheme that maximized the talents of Joey Porter. All smart moves.

I think the biggest reason we lost 15 games last year was Cam Camerons inability to motivate and come up with a decent gameplan. In 06 we had a top 5 defense, we had the talent to win we just weren't using it properly. We lost, Ricky, Ronnie, Trent Green and Chris Chambers all by week 6, that didn't help on offense. Not allowing Joey to play to his strength, losing Zach and Yeremiah Bell to injuries hur the D.

I agree our drafts have been awful, but we still had enough talent not to be a 1-15 team, it's IMO why the transition form last year to this is better then many expected. Nevertheless, we're still headed in the right direction. It looks like at least NE will no longer rule this division...thank god!

Hey FTP Your thoughts on Chad??Pesonally I liked him and hated to see him go. Granted it is exciting to watch Favre, but I always thought to much of teams inability to score was put on Chad here with the Jets

Miami is definitely a club on the rise. I wouldn't be surprised to see the team finish around .500 this year. And coming from 1-15 that's tremendous. Parcells is building a stout defense and I've always liked Pennington as a smart QB. With another good draft I can definitely see the Dolphins being able to compete week in and week out. It must be an exciting time to be a Dolphins fan.

I think if you put Penny behind our current OL, he'd have a lot of success. Remember the two OL starters we let go in the off season (Clarke and Clement) are both unemployed right now. That says a lot about how bad they were - not even able to catch on as a backup for 31 teams. As a consequence there was constant defensive pressure on the QB all season long. No time to make any throws.

Give Penny the benefit of TJ's big rushing attack & the great pass protection and he'll complete a high percentage of his passes. In essence that's what he's doing this year with Jake Long and Ronnie Brown.

Dude, you're 1 game behind the Jets and Pats. This week we play each other while you play the Raiders at home. The Bills ended up being the pretenders of this Division, so if you win that Raiders game (no reason not to) by next week your beloved fish could be in 2nd place in the Division. I don't know why you're not happy about that. I would be if I was a fish fan...then again...I'd probably kill myself while I'm at it.

wow a dolphins fan who can have normal conversation? i didnt think they existed on the internet.

your not giving the dolphins enough credit feelthepain. they can win 9-10 games this year i think. of course they could also only win 7 or 8. but they have played well enough to win those extra games at this point.

I think Chad is smart and a helluva competitor, I think he's made us successful. There isn't a player on the squad that doesn't have a tremendous amount of respect for the guy. He's accurate and has nerves of steel, can't rattle him or make him remember a single mistake during the game. He's a delight to listen to during the post game presser.

He's an intellect and very savvy when talking to the media. All that said, Chad will never win a championship, at least not without three very strong units around him. In other words he just doesn't have enough to carry a team. I think we've fed off his play and that's great during the regular season, but we aren't good enough to help him over the hump and vise versa.

This is what Brett brings to the Jets that will make them a tough draw in the playoffs. The Jets defense is good, real good and they have a good offense. There ST aren't too shabby either. I think the Jets could make some real noise, this year. If I were a Jet fan I'd hold on to your socks, cause it could get real exciting for you guy's this year.

Believe me, the future of this Dolphins team excites me. And Tony Sparano could be special, the guy just gets it.

I don't know how many Dolphin games you've watched this year, but Miami is winning because of the many things they do right, but won't go far because of the many things they do wrong. We have a mediocre running game, poor ST's and those two things are just gonna bite us eventually. Don't get me wrong about my team, I'm thrilled at the winning. But I know it's just a matter of time before we can't pull them out. Seriously, the only team we've beaten worth a damn this year was the Pats. Everyone else was as bad as us or worse. We do have a very soft schedule this year and it's helped us win more games, but this team is still a year or two away from anything worth talking about.

The entire division is seperated by one game it is anybody's division for the taking. The question is who wants it more? Truely the first phins fans that I don't want to strangle. There are "non shit talkers" out there. I could learn alot from FTP.

I just respect what the Jets have done over the off season, smart moves IMO. It's really tough to compete with what they did. You could tell the Jets FO wasn't foolin around. I hate the Jets with a passion, as I'm sure the Jets hate the Dolphins, but it doesn't change the fact that the Jets are to good to ignore. When I look at the Bills I see the exact opposite as the Jets, I have little respect for that team. And their fans are simply ridiculous, what the hell were they looking at when they were talking smack this off season? I knew when the going got tough, they'd fold like a lawn chair.

Not getting excited yet, the next 2 weeks are huge. It is pretty great how virtually all of our offseason acquisitions via trade/free agency have paid off so far though.

I understand your concern, but seriously, as long as those things that worry you don't turn W's into L's, it leaves the fish in a good spot. Believe me, I would love nothing more than to have those "wrong things" cost them more games, fortunately, they've gotten the ball to bounce their way.

I saw Sparano tweek the Wildcat (at least the first time I noticed this) this week. He put 3 RB's in the backfield and it rewarded the fish with a huge gains on the ground AND a TD. I'm sure we'll find a way to stop that when we play you later on in the year.
