Lets say the Jets end up hosting the AFC Championship game at home (end up #1 seed or #2 seed with Tenn losing in divisional round). Now lets also say the Giants, assuming they will be the #1 NFC seed and win in the divisional playoffs as well, what happens??

The AFC and NFC Championships games are both played on a Sunday. So if the Jets and Giants are both home, what would happen? Will this happen? Hey probably not, but it's an interesting scenario to think about. I'm curious as to what the nfl would do in this situation.

They were talking about this on Wfan (boy are we really getting ahead of ourselves or what?). They were speculating that it would be very hard to clear the field and get everyone out of the stadium/parking lot from the first game in time to have the second game the same day. They were speculating that perhaps the NFL would opt to have one game on Saturday night and one game on Sunday night of Championship weekend.

(I meant to add that the reason for this speculation, is that they USED TO play one championship game on saturday and one championship game on Sunday)

The stadium would probably be trashed...and the field would be torn up. They would have the play on two different days.

i say they just skip the afc and nfc title games and let the jets/giants play the game at the meadowlands as the super bowl instead

I guess it's not impossible, however, think about it for a second. If a 1 o clock game goes until 4:15-4:30 (not even considering the possiblity of a long overtime period, or for that matter, multiple overtime periods), that would really only give them a couple of hours to prepare the stadium, parking lot, and field for the next game. And think of all the traffic in the area that day. I would think that the Stadium and team employees would want the games played on seperate days for practical reasons. Although, I could imagine the NFL trying to talk them into doing it all on the same day.

Yeah, I tend to agree with you. It would just make no sense, practically speaking, to force both games on the same day.

They would be playing the 2nd game either on Sat or Mon Night. This happened(for a WC rd not a conf title game) in 1985 and the Jets played on Sat while the Giants played on Sunday. I would think that would be the wise move but they have been talking about Monday Night IF it happened.
