It says they had a really bad matchup along with an all around bad day. Jeebus this thread really is the ying and the yang of the fanbase. On one side of the fanbase we have the Jolly Happy Fuzzy Bunny Club and on the other we have the End of Times set.
I partly agree with you. Denver is a potential playoff team, the Jets had them at home, and they let Denver walk all over them. Even winning all for remaining games will not, in and of itself, erase concerns about this team. What COULD do so, however, would be convincing wins, wins where it appears the Jet pass D has improved. Now I don't see anyone left on the schedule who has Cutler's talent, so the pass D will not face a similar challenge until, possibly, the playoffs. Assuming the Jets get there. As for your prediction of 3 more losses, I won't agree with that, either. Most likely the Jets will be somewhere in the middle, winning two, probably three, but not doing so in a way that inspires confidence in the pass D. Which performance would likely mean an early playoff exit. I hope not.
It does seem that way, but I for one think I am kind of in the middle. The problem with that, though, is that projecting a middling performance likely means the Jets make the playoffs - a clearly good thing - along with seeing it as unlikely they get deep into them - a disappointment after the inspiring wins over NE and Tenn. Oh well... The Jolly Happy Fuzzy Bunny Club is a good one, though.
Please tell us who out of the remaining opponents has a passing attack remotely close to the attack Denver has? I'll give you a hint, no one. Our weakness all season has been the pass and Denver has the perfect offense to exploit it. None of our remaining opponents do. I understand that you want to be negative and all, but try using a little logic to go along with it.
If you want to tell me that about losing to San Diego on the road in September, I will buy it. But losing at home to Denver in late November, I'm not buying it. It shows a lack of intestinal fortitude that has plagued this franchise for years, and has apparently carried over into this season as well, despite flashes to the contrary. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its probably a duck.
I also think the fact that The Giants have all sorts of crap going on around them, yet continue to dominate plays into our psyche. We see this and wonder why we can't have the same success.
They set the tone against the Pats and the Titans. I am assuming you had this picture in your mind of them having to win out, and nothing else is acceptable. That's stupid, I'm sorry. They came out flat for one game and lost to a division leader, that doesn't mean they have given up on the season. But it sounds like you have, and that's WEAK.
This loss was disappointing, but I'm not panic mode. We're still in 1st place, we still control our own destiny. Granted, we've lost a shot at the 1 seed and the 2 seed is looking out of reach, but we can still host a playoff game. We still look better than most of the teams out there. I think, if we play Denver again, we beat them.
Keep in mind, if the team makes the playoffs, teams like the Colts could be lurking. Rumor has it that they have a decent passing offense.
we can still beat them. we can still beat Denver if we play them again. and we already beat NE, but ppl are acting like we're done for if we play them.
i'd be embarassed if any sports fan or anyone for that matter saw that this is how Jets fans act when anything doesn't go perfectly their way.
it is embarrassing because i know this complete overreaction isn't how most people act after a loss. but its the vocal minority that make everyone look like whiny bitches.
Of course I watched the game and of course I know most of those yards came on two plays. Maybe there could have been another or two more. There was certainly no reason to get away from the run in those elements..none other than Mangini is an asshole and he proves it week in and week out. Denver is 28th against the run and Oakland is 29th so of course those are the two teams fuck head decides to abandon the run against. See, he is smarter than everybody else in the league. Just ask him, he will surely tell you. When the team wins it is in spite of him and not because of him.
