I never said we don't rush just three, but how often can you possibly rush bigger? They rush 6+ a lot. It always fails. So the answer is to keep repeating the same failures? Or at least put more guys out in coverage where they can work to break up the pass or make a tackle, since the QB is getting his throw off anyway? Look, I'm pretty sure the only person who dislikes Sutton more than me is Abyzmul, so it's not like I enjoy defending the guy. The problem is, you can only do so much when your players can't get the job done. Sutton is not a good coach, and I want him gone. I'm not going to sit here though, fooling myself that if he was fired that any other coach would have this defense playing better.
They rushed 6 quite a bit. Thomas was rushing on every play. Gholston and Pace rushed often from the other side. I saw David Harris rushing on quite a few pass plays. They just didn't get the job done.
I think Crennel would come here sooner than go back to NE, but I don't friggin want him. My guess is Wade Phillips -- who's got a good past with the 3-4 defense -- will probably be looking for a job.
honest to god, i wouldnt be shocked in the least to see us get Rob Ryan, and then watch our defense suck even more and be begging for the horrid play calls of Sutton. While I am a firm believer that Sutton is the worst D Coordinator in the NFL, I don't think Rob Ryan is more than 2 or 3 DC's better than him. I want sutton gone, and would much rather re-hire Donnie Henderson than bring in Rob ryan. Henderson btw was a solid DC for us, at least in my eyes he was. here's to hoping Rex Ryan finds some reason to leave the ravens, and fails to find a job as a HC, and we throw him a zillion dollars to DC for us, and be the HC in waiting should Mangini fail to uphold his duties.
