I get an error, can not write to file. I was busy at that time and missed it, but I wanted to hear his tirade. Haven't listened to sports radio for at least 5-6 years, but it seemed like something I'd want to hear.
The Dolphins have Parcells - Michael Corleone; the Patriots have Bill Bellicheck - Sonny Corleone; and the Jets have Eric Mangini - Fredo Corleone.
Have to say it reminded me of his old rants from when he did the overnight. All I can say is bravo and that he's spot on. The Godfather reference and the incessant shrieks while Roberts was bashing the fourth down play were the highlights for me. Classic Beningo!
Despite the fact that I think the Godfather analogy is unoriginal and lame, I must point out the obvious: Wouldn't Parcells be Sonny while Bellicheck would be Michael intead of the other way around???
Parcells would be Michael and Belichik would be Tom Hagen. Coughlin is Sonny only he lived through the tollbooth.
If a radio personality crosses a line with his criticism he's not going to get interviews with that person or that team. The Knicks in recent years have a reputation for having an itchy trigger finger when it comes to boycotting journalists, this just made it worse for them. Since the radio guys knew they were already on the crap list for some minor comment they went all out in attacking Dolan, Isiah and everybody else. Now, Mangini never did a lot of radio shows and I don't think he ever did the Benigno show, but the fact that Benigno is willing to trash Mangini like this really means he doesn't think Mangini is going to be around for very long. Even a hothead like Benigno wouldn't burn his bridges with a guy expected to be here for years.
The analogy is all wrong. Parcells would be Vito Corleone. Bill would be Michael Corleone. Mangini would be Fredo.
Has Beningo noticed that in all the games we won that Favre played well and that in all the games we lost he played like crap? How is that Mangini's fault?
For staying with him. That's the problem bringing in a legend...you can't bench them. Favre plays for Favre, never for his team. That's why he's careless with the ball. He doesn't really give a shit. He's been saying the same crap for 4 weeks now, and yet no adjustments in his play. He just keeps winging it where-ever. As long as he doesn't take the hit he can stay the "ironman" of the NFL. What a fucking joke. His hall of fame bust should be a statue of him cowering at the feet of Strahan for the gift sack.
