I'll say this: Favre owes the Jets and the fans. This organization bent over backwards for him and the fans welcomed him as their on-field leader. He did NOTHING to live up to his HOF reputation in New York. For all that he's received, he owes us something more than to go out a loser. Penny or Clemens could have done what he did. If he doesn't come back and lead this team deep into the post-season, his reputation is tarnished and he is a loser in my book.
I don't think you can say he did nothing. I for one was incredibly excited to have him after the firts 11 games of the season, and was chearing his name from the stands after his 6th TD pass against the rams. He did give us hope. But, then it all came crashing down. I think this team needs to go in a different direction at the QB position, but I disagree that he did nothing for the team this year. THe problem is that us as fans only remember the last 5 games and his troubles.
I have not been a Chad fan since his 04 injury but I have to say he looked healthy and in command yesterday. It was like watching the 02 Chad especially on that corner end zone ball. The guy looked real good. Simms talked about his relationship with Henning who was the QB coach here in 98 when Vinny had his best year. I'm sure Henning made Chad comfortable you could tell watching him he was in full command. I also bet he works with his mechanics on a daily basis. This is something everyone takes for granted but pro pitchers and hitters are constantly working on keep their mechanics together. Favre looks like he is throwing wrong footed about 80% of the time. I wonder if that's something they even work on around here?
Great post winston It's clear Chad was pressing last year, for whatever reason. I'm not sure why, but the overall crappiness of the whole team and the lack of support from the coaching staff are two easy culprits. However, he made some just terrible throws last year that we were not accustomed to. Yesterday he was in control of the game. Favre just had awful mechanics- one QB knew what he was doing on the field and it wasn't Favre.
Chad got hurt last year early, it may have played into it but even in 06 when Chad did a real nice job running Shotty's O, he broke down about half way through the year and did throw a lot of picks. That didn't happen this year at all.
Actually, mangini got fired because he sucks. His staff sucks, his play calling sucks, and his in game management sucks. You are using Favre as a scapegoat, but Mangini sucks.
Thank you - agree completely. Didn't think he was actually going to get the boot but I'm so glad he did.
so how long do you we have to blame every move the team makes on the need to sell psl's? whats gonna happen in 2011 when they sign a free agent? obviously the reason these guys buy football teams and it is to make money. it is possible to make money and also be attempting to be successful. im sure kraft is making a ton of money in new england, but he obviously wants to win too. putting an exciting and competitive team on the field helps the team fill the stadium and sell merchandise. so its possible woody could just want to win, and in turn make money off that success.
Brett the Dick strikes again. Mangini was fired for one reason. Favre didn't like him. God, it's tough to like this organization. It's obviously all about money. Woody wants Favre back and he knows he won't be back with Manginin as the head coach, so Woody fires him. I'm going to scream if I have to deal with another season with Brett, chuck it up for grabs, Favre.
Now I'm starting to think this was a knee jerk reaction by Woody. At 8-3 he was sitting pretty seeing $$$$ for all that money he was going to rake in for home advantage during the playoffs. $2500 for 300s! $10000 for 200s! Favre Jerseys will be selling like HOTCAKES!! Then BAM!!! Woody saw his precious dreams floating away these last 2 weeks. $2, $3 million down the drain. Poow Woody =(
