http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2008/12/31/mayo_wins_defensive_rookie_award/ Woo Hoo ... Congrats to Jerod ..
There was no contest on this award. He had an outstanding season. Congratulations to him, well deserved.
Well deserved- he completely lit up the joint in the Jet game and a few others where I saw him play. Those Pats will be sorry though, we "stole" Gholston out from under them, and they ended up settling with Mayo...suckers!!!
Yeah, after watching the Thursday night game against the Pats, I didn't think there would be a contest. Mayo is an animal.
You come here and brag about your guy, who the Jets let you have out of the goodness in their hearts and then you completely misrepresent Gholston stats. Your are nothing more than a Pats homer. Here are Gholstons true stats, they smoke the mere 4 tackles you quoted: 2008 NY Jets 15 games 5 solo tackles 8 assists 13total Career Totals (Full) 15g 5s 8a 13 total So as you can see Vernon was at just less than 1 tackle a game. Way to misrepresent fellas as he was far better than your stats indicate. 4 fucking tackles total? shame on you............ Can you imagine if he just doubles that next year? He might actually be sited in a game....... dare to dream.
Cincy were the real fools for passing on Mayo. Rivers didn't even look half the player whilst he was healthy.
I'm tired of the anti Jets bias in the media and voters for major awards Gholston was an animal this year- Mayo could only dream of having the impact of Gholston.
Guy's an animal. I actually have a hard time despising him. That was Mayo that Keller ran over on third and 16 in OT, right?
That's a pretty ridiculous statement. Rivers played pretty well until he got injured. Not to mention they play different positions in totally different schemes and Rivers was the only half decent player in the Bengals front 7, while Mayo was playing behind one of the best d lines in the league, and they're both only rookies. That said Mayo totally deserved it.
