Remember, Clemens' first start was vs. Rex Ryan's D and he played pretty well.Maybe that left a good impression to Ryan, who could be more willing to give Clemens a chance than Mangini had. Just a thought.
I believe Clemens was a McCareins drop away from nodding it up at 20 that day vs. a tough Ravens D. Not bad for your first start.

    Clemens really deserves another shot.

Clemens was eh for the 1st 3 qtrs but then just began to light Baltimore up at will in the 4th. Coles and McDroppins did nothing for him late in the game.

Ryan should make it an open competition for QB though if Favre isnt back. Just no Kyle Boller from Baltimore, the one guy not to bring over haha.

Taking over a 1-7 team who already quit and couldn't protect is not exactly fair wouldn't you say?

Kellen is over, if any young QB gets a chance it will be Brett R.

I don't know. Is there a chance that Kellen Clemens will turn into a pizza anytime between now and minicamp?

I don't know about that, but if he dropped one off at Ryan's office it couldn't hurt his chances.

How come no one seems to remember the game against the Steelers last season. Kellen drove us down the field with less then 2 mins left to tie the game. Then he drove us right down the field to win the game in OT.

No one seems to remember that.....

Honestly though, with a solid and most likely improved defense, a great o-line and a great running game, why not just let Clemens get his shot for a full season? I don't see a problem with it at all. It also frees up $13 million in cap space getting rid of Favre.

We gave Kellen the keys with four blown tires on the car. No wonder he crashed.

Exactly. Lets throw one more thing out there, odds are he WILL NOT throw 22 interceptions next year. The offense can play much more conservative with a solid D. I think Clemens has to be given his chance. Oh and if he is not given a chance, then cut his ass so he can have a chance elsewhere. No reason for a guy to sit on the bench for 4 years.

I agree, I'm all for Kellen starting. One positive thing that would come from it right away would be our offense would become more of a running offense. That right there is what this teams needs. We have one of the best 1-2 punches in the NFL. We have to play like that.

Clemens full potential not yet known.
If Favre doesn't come back, should be open competition between him, Ratliff, and likely a vet (my vote would be Leftwich).
In that scenario, he'd be given every opportunity to win the job.

Kellen was super unspectactular in pre-season in 2008. Chad was going to beat him out for the QB job.

Rex could like Roger Clemens as well....

I loved what he did against San Diego this year.... Drove down the field and then fired a dart to Comartie in the end zone.... he is a pants-shitter on the field... do not anoint him the starter.

Ratliff played better than Clemens in the preseason, and Ratliff and Clemens played against the same competition.
