Just listened to Tannenbaum on FAN and he seems to be saying they want an initial answer from Favre by the combine but if they don't get a final answer until much, much later then that's ok. He also said that even if Favre comes back they will still have some flexibility with the cap and be able to do some thing in FA. Finally, he seemed to indicate they don't have a QB on the staff now that would start next year if Favre doesn't come back but that they would look to FA, the draft and traded to get one. In other words, he said nothing that should surprise anybody here.
Thank god. I already figured he hadn't drunk the ratty kool-aid himself, but it's good to hear direct confirmation. Going into 2009 with just Clemens, Ratty, and camp fodder would be ... certifiably insane. p.s. LOL, I just looked at the article in the OP of this thread, and that option is what Glauber says is the best bet! Wow is this guy clueless.
Makes sense. Clemens has looked awful, given the time he has been allowed to play. And Ratliff has looked good, but he's only played in pre-season games. So who in their right mind would throw either of these guys out as a starter? I think Favre will be back to make things right, but if he's not, they have to go get someone else's vet.
Why wouldn't Sanchez still be there? Stafford will go to Detroit most likely and there is no one in dire need of a QB except maybe KC and no way is Sanchez a top 5 or even top 10 pick.
You have to think of it this way. We can let Ratliff, and Clemens battle it out in an open competition, but we need veteran insurance, should neither one work out. We all saw the HELLISH consequences of not having a viable backup QB (see Rick Mirer)in the past.
Dude, who in their right mind would allow Kellen Clemens to begin the season as a starter in the NFL, given his horrible stats? Favre either starts or you go out and get someone else. There are no other options.
We are a playoff team right now we just needed a coach & now we have 1. No prevent D no 3 man rush BLITZ GOD DAM IT ! Cut Thomas start Gholston make Gholston & Pace rush the QB all day get a Corner, Saftey, MLB (if we do not resign Barton) & a WR.
I find it unlikely he is available, although with QBs you never know. I happen to like Sanchez a lot and think he will work himself up to a top 10 pick when all is said and done. I'm not sure how you have come to the conclusion that no teams in front of us need a QB? Any one of STL, KC, SEA, JAX & SF can use a QB upgrade and most certainly SF will jump all over Sanchez if he makes it to ten. Either way I think one of those teams takes him before we have a chance to even sniff him. If not and he makes it to 17 we need to take him.
Josh Freeman Kansas st. Pat White WVU Two good QBs that aren't getting that much attention. Pat Kurwin and T-rock(Tim Ryan) on Moving the Chains sirius nfl radio said that White looked very good in Senior Bowl 11 on 11 scrimages during practice. PK and T-rock are good evaluators and konw what they are talking about. Unlike arm chair scouts like myself.
What do people here think about Sanchez? Are there any concerns about him after Matt L. turned out to be such a bust?
That and the fact that his coach says he is in no way ready for the NFL would be or should be cause for some caution.
Carson Palmer was also a USC QB. Should every QB comming out of USC be though of in his light or Lineharts? Or perhaps we try to evaluate them on thier own play instead of acting as foolish as think they'll be just like the guy before them.
