We've all heard Rex say that he will bring us a superbowl within four years, or Obama's first term. In his interview with SNY Ryan said, "When year 4 comes rolling around and we haven't won a super bowl ring, I probably know what that means for me." So, my question is: If Rex Ryan doesn't bring us a superbowl in 4 years, will he be fired? By no means does not winning a superbowl condemn any head coach, especially in four years, but when a coach goes out on a limb like this, would he be fired? I know that Rex's confidence seems like a boost that this Jets team needs right now, but will setting his goals too high leave us with another coaching search in 2013? I certainly hope not. Rex: Prove me wrong.
I'm not saying that his confidence is a bad thing, I just was wondering if you think he actually would be fired.
You want to hear this enthusaism from a coach, Rex seems more anxious and excited than mangini ever was.
I think it is fine that he is ambitious, but man that press conference was WAY over the top I thought. But what do I know. If this doesn't work, he looks like a fool. I am sure Belicheck was snickering if he listened. "it will be fun when they all blitz and I call that little dump off screen to Faulk for 40 yards"
well in response to your thread title Hell yes he is being over ambitious. It's great that he is this rediculously over confident, but he needs to settles down with the media present, or the media will be calling for his head. Rex will be the best coach we have had since parcells, of that i am sure. Groh was a one year guy. Bellicheck doesnt really count right? Herm won over the team that is sure, he also got us to the postseason and had some good years. But Herm is still an idiot, hell he hired a clock management guy, and together they still were the worst time managment duo in the NFL. Mangini had a great rookie campaign followed by a clunker, followed by one of the worst collapses in NFL history Hell if Ellis doesnt return a fumble a media "superbowl bound squad" collapses to 8-8. Rex doesnt exactly have to work that hard to beat out the bunch.
Absolutely not. This is a winning team. Not much needs to be rebuilt, just some hard tweaking here and there. We should have definitely made the playoffs this year, so with a little luck who knows? I think his enthusiasm is good, compared to what we had before.
Yes, definitely...what was the question? Oh, definitely not...wait...yes. I meant yes it isn't. No, wait...
I was fired up hearing him talk about a Super Bowl. The fans don't want to just have a great defense and make the playoffs a few times. We want to win it all. Finally, a coach who understands his fans.
Overambitious? I think its balls promising to win a Super Bowl. Who wants a coach with balls? I would rather have a fat emasculated conservative douche bag that couldn't find his balls with a road map, had no passion or feel for the game and promised us nothing. That would work out well for the next 3 years. LOL or we can have an over effusive charlatan that took 4 years to get exposed. Your choice..................
that's still a meaningless question because there are numerous scenarios that can occur. yes, if the team makes the playoffs only once in 4 years and does not win the Super Bowl, it is possible he gets fired. if the team makes the playoffs in several of those four years, makes an AFC Championship or a Super Bowl but does not win it, than no, it is unlikely. but just presenting the criteria of no Super Bowl in 4 years in no way is an answerable question.
