SI.com's Peter King said Monday on Pardon the Interruption that he firmly believes Brett Favre will retire this offseason.

King says Favre knows he can still play, but won't play if he can't play where he wants to play. King also said that Favre isn't willing to have doctor-recommended surgery on the torn biceps in his throwing arm he played through last year. The Jets will probably go with Kellen Clemens as their starter if Favre calls it quits. They could also bring in a high pick to push Brett Ratliff for the backup job. The free agent QB market isn't enticing.

YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS FOLKS!

GET YOUR FAVRE JERSEYS READY BECAUSE HE WILL BE BACK IN 2009.

    :) haha.

I'm guessing you're referring to this:
Yeah, that's always been the most likely outcome. But he's just saying that is his hunch, not that he knows something.

Jeez...now Peter King is the expert....wow. Did anybody tell him that pretty much everybody thinks Favre will retire and that they have all said it for months?

I hope Mr. King is almost as accurate as Mr. Nostradomus. Bye Bye Brett.

I am referring to what he said on PTI, made the thread mostly to insult King of the Pats Jock.

A lot of you may not agree with this, but Favre coming back and playing for a year would be for the best. Clemens just isn't starting material, and even if Ratliff is ready someday, he's not far enough along in his development yet, and he won't be for another year.

Favre is simply our best option for winning games next season.

I hope if he does it, he does it soon, so if we need a QB plan, we can start. Part of the reason I'm glad we kept Shotty is that he knows what we have already and has an idea how much of an upgrade we need.

You know what, FUCK FAVRE!. He won't play if he can't play where he wants? Go fuck yourself, Brett. YOU SUCK!
The more he talks, the more i realize Green Bay knew what they were doing.
    GO AWAY!

Tone, I really don't wanna see this franchise held up like Farve did to the Packers over the last few years. Time to bite the bullet man and just move on.

    We can use 2009 to:

1-Let Ryan get acclimated to his new team and FO.
2-Let Ratliff/Clemens or Vet Qb X win the job
3-Have a draft plan in place for a franchise Qb if the above option looks shakey
4-If the above 3 come to fruition, we'll be poised to make a run in 2010 in our new timeshare errr,stadium.. At the very least, we'll have 2 questions answered and options as well.

Its a win/win long term for the Jets if Farve goes fishin..

"I've never been in a [full] offseason program"

Screw this guy. Let him go home and play touch football with his friends and eat all of the crayfish he can get his hands on (I'm assuming the Wrangler commercials are tantamount to a documentary on Favre's daily life). He's done, he's washed up, Green Bay knew what they were doing in getting rid of him. Go home and fuck Deanna, spend some time with your kids, spend your money, and get over the NFL, Brett. We'll survive without you, trust me.

i can't believe i'm saying this to you, but favre needs an operation.

nothing major, but needed anyways. if he's not going to do it, then bringing him back makes no sense. we had the same problem with chad, and we don't need to spend $13 million on a repeat. play defense, run the ball, and let the other 3 qbs fight it out. the steelers made the playoffs with ben as a rookie, and so did the ravns and falcons this year.

I'm still pretty torn on Favre. On the one hand we have a very weak QB situation without Favre, but on the other hand he does throw those "WTFFFFFFF" interceptions.

    Whatever happens, happens.

Dude chill out. You're telling me you are taking Peter King's word? Come on, that is seriously the last person I would listen to, and that has nothing to do with the fact that hes the number 1 Pats lover out there.

Peter King is garbage and I have no clue how the heck the guys has stayed around this long.

    way to sum it up.

and for those who think Clemens cant play....

put him behind that offensive line.
and now that the cuffs are off the OC, let him take advantage of a no-limit offense.

    Clemens can play.
    Ratliff can play.
    Ainge can play.

its a question of who can play better.

    my money is on Clemens.
