I think we all agree that we need a Veteran QB, even as a backup and the choices are

    2009 NFL Free Agency-Quarterbacks

    Quarterbacks Who Are Considered Starters

Kurt Warner/Arizona Cardinals/UFA - Sources indicate that contract negotiations have been slow in getting Warner an extension but the team clearly doesn't trust Matt Leinart. If Warner continues to play well, look for the team to step up their effort to get Warner signed to a three-year deal. (Probably going to re-sign)

Kerry Collins/Tennessee Titans/UFA - Things are going so well that it wouldn't be a surprise if they signed the veteran signal caller to an extension during the regular season.
    (Probably going to re-sign)

Matt Cassel/New England Patriots/UFA - He's finally getting his shot to play and is starting to play better. Cassel could garner decent interest around the league next year if he continues to progress. (No Chance)

Jeff Garcia/Tampa Bay Buccaneers/UFA - The team hasn't shown much interest in getting him signed to a new deal but if they continue to win, Garcia could make it hard to management not to sign him. Tampa Bay also doesn't have a younger quarterback that's really ready to emerge as the starter at the position.
(West Coast QB and likes warm weather)

Others Who Could Find Interest For Backup Purposes

Chris Simms/Tennessee Titans/UFA (Decent if finally healthy)
    J.P. Losman/Buffalo Bills/UFA (Next!)
Byron Leftwich/Pittsburgh Steelers/UFA (Looked good as a backup)
    Rex Grossman/Chicago Bears/UFA (Next!)
Kyle Boller/Baltimore Ravens/UFA (Familiar with Rex Ryan)
    Luke McCown/Tampa Bay Buccaneers/UFA (Just re-signed )
    David Carr/New York Giants/UFA (Just re-signed )
Patrick Ramsey/Denver Broncos/UFA (We already tried this)
Brooks Bollinger/Dallas Cowboys/UFA (We already tried this)
    Dan Orlovsky/Detroit Lions/UFA (SAFETY!)
    Charlie Frye/Seattle Seahawks/UFA (Next)
Charlie Batch/Pittsburgh Steelers/UFA (Isnt he like 65 years old?)
    Anthony Wright/New York Giants/UFA (Next)

So in my opinion it is Simms or Leftwich or we better be trading up

id rather go Simms i think Leftwhich benefited from teams not having to gameplan him when he came in as a backup

How about stick with what we have and draft Sanchez at 17 if he's there? Remember, Clemens is a veteran QB and if he or Ratliff is not the answer then we will likely be in a position to draft a guy like Bradford or McCoy next year.

i think we will stick with what we have...and if we had to sign someone, i would like to see them sign Batch
I think he outperformed Roethlisburger the year before last...more so than Leftwich did this year
and would come at a cheaper price...
but i'd be ok with Clemens/Ratliff/Ainge

I say Kellen is our starter and have Leftwich as our backup.

    This is Clemen's 4th season
If he starts it is only because of seniority
I don't think Ryan is too impressed with him
He is saying all the politically correct stuff now, but when it is said and done, we will probably draft a QB

The Jets won't trade up for a QB. There are none in this draft worth it. I can see them signing a vet for 1 year and then looking to get a QB in the draft next year.

Based on available QBs, unless we can get Kurt Warner, our QBs going into this upcoming season should be:

    Kellen Clemens
    Brett Ratliff
    Erik Ainge

Ryan just said on 1050 that Clemen's already knows the system.

This QB class isn't very strong.

Stafford is the only true #1 guy with Sanchez having a lot of questions about him and the rest being very meh prospects.

Next years class doesn't need much to beat this one, and if Bradford and Tebow light up the league next year - that class is automatically better.

I know, but it didn't sound like the most confidence either.
If anything that answer probably says we will not go for a QB in FA, we will look at the roster and probably look to draft one

We need our own identity...Signing someone of the trash heap is not the answer, plus there is not one qb that I'm overly excited about in free agency...I think we have to do our due diligence and find a diamond in the rough at the draft, let Clemens and Ratliff battle it out and let our defense wins the games and our offense keep us in the game...

Warner's already done a tour in NYC with the Giants. Based on what he later said about that experience, there's no way he's gonna want to come back here unless it's his last resort.

Tebow is not an NFL QB & they said if McCoy came out he would have been a 4th round pick I think we need to get a guy this year.

What are you basing your opinion on??

Most of the guys on this site say we need to give the young guys a chance I think bringing in a vet defeats the purpose. Garcia will beat out our guys & if he comes it is to start he is 39, has no arm & gets nicked up. Warner & Collins are not coming & anyone else is not even worth having on the roster for the amount of money they would want.
