After going through the pics I was cracking up and had to go back to the OP so I could rethink what my reply was. Any way, I would hope that we see some competition in training camp before anyone is handed the starting job.
I don't know who is going to start, but I know this - I've seen Clemens in practice, in pre season, and regular season, and in any situation, the man cannot hit an open receiver. Overthrows, throws short, throws to the wrong spot. I've only seen Ratliff in practice and pre season, but the guy can get the ball to receivers. I know he is untested, and needs to do it for real, but to me, he looks better than Clemens ever has. Just my opinion based on observation.
I don't get it? Based on a couple good series in Pre Season what has this kid done to be such a favorite.

Clemens just seems to lack pocket presence, but I try to keep in mind that 90% of the time he's been on the field in the regular season, it was behind the horrid OL we had in 2007. I want to see what Clemens can do behind a real line, but I won't rule Ratliff out.
I would be pleased with that. I like what I have seen from the kid so far and the only way to find out what he has is to give him a shot. Much better in my opinion than going with a middle of the road vet like a leftwhich. Also think he has shown more promise than Clemens. Look at it this way as well. Our team is built so a young QB can be successfull. We have a solid o-line going into the second year where they have all been together. We have two god backs. And it looks like we should have a good defense that will keep us in a lot of games all by themselves. Its a great situation for a young QB where he can lean on the running game and his defense while he learns to play the game.
