This one was a dedication (by gustoonarmy) to all the AFC East QB's, namely Thomas Brady and Chadwick Pennington (sorry Penny we had to do it) and last but not least ....... ........ ....... whoever the QB is up in Buffalo lol. I want you all to imagine what it is like to be devoured by a T-Rex, because that is exactly what's in store for all of you, courtesy of Rex Ryan. Lets hope all of your trainers stay at a Holiday Inn Saturday nights. You are gonna need it.

Man, you guys are really guzzling the kool-aid these days. You sound like you're expecting the Jets defense to suddenly become the Baltimore Ravens part II. Well, although they may be an improved defense in 2009, don't get disappointed when they don't look as good as the Ravens have under Ryan. The last time I checked, you're still short a few Pro Bowlers {Lewis / Suggs / and Reed}....

i hate the helmet-to-helmet hits. it's part of the game i guess...but i would have preferred he tucked down his helmet. still would have been a devastating hit.

whoever missed that assignment should be fired btw.

    you are 1000% correct.

I've mentioned the fact that most Jets fans are going to be really pissed when they aren't the 3rd overall defense in the NFL. They might be able to be a top 10, maybe even a top 8, but it will be a few years with better players until they are a top 5 defense.

my concerns are now on the Jets signal caller. Because the most important position in the NFL is the Jets weakest.

Scott will be playing on the inside for the Jets, he rushed from the outside on that play. Just saying.

he started on the inside and shifted off tackle. That's how you confuse a offensive line.

if ryan's scheme puts Scott there, he'll play there for that particular play.

The Jets already have some pieces in place to make a run @ becoming a top 5 Defense

We have one of the best Safetys in the game in Kerry Rhodes

We have the best 3-4 NT in the game today in Kris Jenkins

We have a top 5 CB in Revis with a #2 CB in Sheppard who is REALLY good

We now have one of the best 1-2 Punches @ MLB in David the Hitman Harris & Bart Scott

If you ask me, thats 5 impact players right there on the Defensive side of the ball, with a coach in Rex Ryan who knows how to run a strong 3-4 Defense.

We also have Players like Lowery who makes for a solid Nickel back, Ellis as our LDE, Gholston as a project player who has a boat load of potential...

I cant see what you DONT see in this Defense

The Ravens had Ed Reed under Ryan, we have Rhodes

The Ravens had an aging Ray Lewis and Bart Scott, we have Harris and Scott

The Ravens had McCalister as their #1 CB, we have Revis

The Ravens had Ngatta as their NT, we have Jenkins

Im not saying that Calvin Pace and Vernon Gholston can be a Suggs, but they do have potential under this D as OLB's

Call me a homer, call me stupid, but I KNOW we will have a TOUGH D here in 09

Good post. I agree, if you match our players up it looks pretty even. I'm not sure Jenkins is the best though. The only problem is that it might take a while for everyone to adjust to Ryan's defense. They also might not do as well with his defense as Mangini's, even though they are both 3-4.

Look I've suffered under the JETS for 40 years but I REFUSE to not be excited about the prospect of having a VIOLENT Defense next season.

We've got some great players, and if we can get a good rotation going so Jenkins and Ellis don't peter out at the end of the season again I think we can be an exciting Defense. I'm not saying 1st, 5th, or 10th, I'm saying exciting.

Why can't people be PUMPED about seeing some hard hitting football games next season? After 40 years I can't be bothered with winning and losing, I'll be happy with great entertainment.

Couldn't have said it better. Regardless of whether the Jets D winds up in the top 5 statistically or the top 10 or what have you, I think it's the perception that the attitude might actually change that has people so amped. When you have a dude like Scott coming out saying the stuff he's saying and you see the roster that's coming together under Ryan, you have to love the potential. The last time I remember being excited about the energy and aggression of a Jets defense was back in the Sack Exchange era.
