Good God. Is there no end to these Madden inspired threads? I never played Madden but if trades like this are possible, I haven't missed out on anything.

I don't really know what the Broncos and the Browns are looking for. The only rumor I know is that the Browns were entertaining the idea of B. Edwards to the Giants for Kinawuka... but, I can only assume that they would ask for more than just that... but who knows.

As far as Cutler, I only have the 3 way trade scenario to go by... but in a 1 on 1 trade I also don't know what they would want. Maybe this years 1st and next years 1st?.. I don't know.

All I'm trying to say, is that IF we have the ammo, and we would know that by talking to these teams, that we should go for it.

If we don't have the ammo, then don't.. and that's that.

As far as salary cap implications... I've gotten to the point where I don't really care about salary cap that much. We've seen Tanny go from $13mil over the cap this year to almost $30 mil under... there's so many ways to manipulate the cap that it's not even funny. Then we have the possibilty of an uncapped year coming up... I just don't think that it's that much of an issue to work two contracts like these and have them fit nicely within the cap.

Sacrificing depth is an issue, no doubt. I think we are somehwat ok right now but yes, pkciing up another offensive lineman would be important... but sometimes you have to make a sacrifice in order to aquire a franchise QB and franchise bonafied #1 WR.

Did it work for the Vikings when they traded for Herschel Walker or for the Saints when they traded up to get Ricky Williams?

NFL trades are easier to pull off than Madden trades. You could never get Randy Moss for a 4th rounder in Madden just cause he has "character issues".

I would not compare a HB with a Franchise QB / Franchise #1 WR combo.

I would certainly not sell the house for any HB in the league, EVEN A. Peterson... since HBs are much easier to find than franchise QBs and gifted WRs like B. Edwards.

using the draft value chart to examine the trade value
    receiving- 3850 and matt cassel
    giving up-615

    3235 points gained= a little over the #6 pick twice...and matt cassell's value
the #17 pick holds 950 value points...i'm sure they would settle for that
    3 x 950 = 2850....1000 pts less and without matt cassell

in the tampa trade they would have received significantly less...but still would have gotten Matt Cassell

the only reason they considered trading cutler was b/c...they'd have been getting a ransom and a replacement

he is not on the market...and he holds ZERO leverage over the broncos to demand a trade
no way they even field our phone call unless we sell the farm

In the grand scheme of things of course I would love to have Cutler and Braylon but it's not going to happen based on all the other variables. My point in bringing up those other trades were to show you that giving up a full draft will set you back.

Please tell me you're not trying to compare real trades to Madden trades.

Put down the keyboard, and slowly step away from the Message Board.

The draft is hit or miss for the most part. Look at our 4th round picks vs our 1st round pick last year... It's a lottery basically. Heck if we gave up our 1st this year and our 1st next year for Cutler and a 2nd this year I would be just fine with that... or whatever, I'm just throwing a scenario out there. I don't really care if the draft chart says we got bent over, because the draft chart can't put a value on a young franchise QB with insane potential who has already proven that he can play very well behind a pi$$ poor defense.

As far as how available he or B. Edwards are, that I don't know. I'm ONLY going on the rumors that they are somehwat available.... I don't really know what that means, only the Browns and Broncos FOs know for sure.

yes, it is much harder to tinker with Madden for 10 minutes to pull of a trade that has zero ramifications for anyone's life than it is to negotiate with real human beings for days and weeks where a wrong more could cost you your job.
no, it won't set you back. getting two proven players is better than 5 or 6 other players who may be busts.

I'm not... others were, saying that my suggestions would only work in Madden. I simply said that it's actually the other way around, where real NFL trades would not work out in Madden.

I sighted the example of R. Moss for a 4th rounder. That trade would NEVER work in Madden, because Madden doesn't give a crap if the guy has "character" issues.

That's why its easier to make these types of trades in the real NFL, cause you got a team owner that doesn' tlike that player, or you got a new coach who wants to start fresh, so they're willing to take a little less for a guy taht would normaly be worth more.

In the real NFL yes, it would be, but in Madden it's not. I'd much rather have K. Winslow in the Madden world than a 2nd and a 5th where as in the NFL K. Winslow for a 2nd and a 5th is fine.

How would you rate a draft if you ended up with Cutler and Braylon and every other pick was a complete bust?

What if we went back in time and drafted every hall of famer that ever played the game and brought Vince Lomabardi back from the dead to coach our team...

I can't think of any trades that have worked in favor of the team giving up the draft picks
