    We Only Have One Gholston...

My take is that Tyson Jackson should be our No. 17 pick. We don't have enough serious DEs on this defense. More fierce beef!!

Every time I see one of these 'This is what I would do on defense' threads, they always have some OLB lined up at 3-4 DE. Do some fucking homework.

This board is not immune to morons and idiots.

P.S. On the other hand, Madden 09 always seems to rate those OLBs in 3-4 DE spot very highly. Madden is ruining a lot of football intelligence these days...

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the league gonna suspend Ellis for that whole weed incident?

It was his first offense, there aren't any league suspensions or fines for 1st offense, just heightened testing. The Jets could have imposed their own suspension like Pitts did with Holmes but they did not.

Gholston was a DE in college right?? So since he was useless as an LB its possibilty that we may see him line up as a DE from time to time right? I know its tough to follow but stick with it and you might get it...

Well, it all depends on whether you have any idea at all on how a 3-4 defense works. 4-3 DE (which is what Gholston was in college) requires speed and pass-rushing skills, while 3-4 DE (what you are stupidly suggesting) requires the DE to hold blocks on Gs and Ts while the team's pass-rushers get free. You are suggesting that we take a guy at 6 that we drafted to rush the QB to hold blocks on guards and tackles that are much bigger than he is and not rush the QB that much. They drafted him at OLB to rush the passer. He's not a 3-4DE.

So the D will strictly line up for each snap this year in a 3-4? We will see no 4-3 where VG could line up?

Of course he would line up at 4-3 DE, he already has been lined up that way. Which has absolutely nothing to do your your original post:

Which is the basis for the objection you asked for.

That does it. It's official now. He's a moron.

I even posted why Gholston at 3-4 DE is a massive fail - so he proved that 1. he doesn't understand 3-4 scheme 2. he cannot read 3. most of all, he's a retard. QED.

P.S. If you want to come up with 4-3 horsecrap, at least make it sound like one - for instance:

Sorry I dont have your superior football knowledge...you must be a Pee Wee football coach. And I respect that fact that you were able to be mature and present your argument without name calling and being an ass like I would expect from one of the 9 year olds you probably coach.

Just another internet tough guy who likes to run his fingers on the keyboard. You probably talk shit to telemarketers too I bet. Its the only way you can feel significant in a world that does know you exist. I pity you.

Jets need it least one more Defensive End and probably 2. I like Ellis but he is getting old. He can still be effective but I would look into upgrading the other DE spot. Kenyon Coleman isnt cutting it.

Thomas was a guy who played well in 2006. Did nothing in 2007 and then got off to a good start in 2008 but did nothing down the stretch. But a lot of guys did nothing down the stretch and I blame a lot of that on Mangini for changing the defense. So im willing to give him one more chance going into next season. I would like to see Gholston win that job though at some point next season.

I like the Jets starting D but they need to add some depth. I dont think you can just pencil in Lowery as the number 3 CB. I would look into drafting one in one of the first 3 rounds or possibly signing Corey Ivy.

The Jets also need some more depth at LB which I think can be adressed in the draft as well.
