Im going to ask a question for those who usually sell single game tickets and those who usually buy single game tickets. Will you up your asking price once the PSLs are in place? And for those buying would you expect to pay more once the PSLs are in place?

I would be inclined to sell for much higher than the actual game ticket itself. I might tag on at least $50 per ticket.

I occasionally go to a game every now and again when I see a good deal on tickets, usually on eBay.

I personally would not pay extra, especially $50 a seat extra, to go to a game.

I am just as happy watching the Jets play in 10 degree weather on my 50 inch HDTV with the fireplace going as I would be at the stadium freezing my nuts off.

"Tag on" as much as you'd like, but I think the market will determine what the selling price is. It always has.

It sounds like you're contemplating purchasing a PSL... (correct me if I'm wrong here)... and you're trying to figure a "return" on your money?

Rest assured (and I've been in and out of many investments, good and sometimes bad), that PSLs are unquestionably a bad investment. Flat out, a terrible investment.

Hope this helps with your quandry.

My 4 seats are actually uppers( im fearful the height has increased dramatically as ive been told) a friend has 4 lowers and is looking for me to invest in 2 of his ( I dont know if I see it as an investment). Im so undecided as we speak. Im seriously leaning towards staying home and attending a few games on bought tickets. Either way im ok. Ive spent alot of money throughout the years and spent alot of time. I dont regret any of it.

I hear you. I've been attending since 1970 and bought my first season tickets when the Jets moved to the Meadowlands.

All of us are in the same boat. I don't regret any of the time spent either, but this is lunacy, IMO. The Uppers have increased in height and width, yes. In fact, bring binoculars (seriously), because the Uppers are going to be way out there.

The Lower seats are all expensive. Do you have an early number in the Upper? What is your entry date or official start date? That's what they're going by. It's all a function of what number you are.

If you purchased your tickets early (1977-1983 or so), you're probably in luck to get SOMETHING in the Upper deck without a PSL. If not, you'd have to go back to your friend with the Lowers, although something tells me that if your friend is trying to figure this out right about now, then perhaps he was just contacted, which puts his number pretty far out, if you know what I mean. In other words, he's low on the list.

This doesn't bode well for his ticket selection, so I think I might stay away and see what I could get on my own. If he has a copy of his "Playbook" that he got from the NY Jets, then read it. Otherwise, you can probably get a look at a copy on the NY Jets website.

The whole think stinks to high heaven, IMO. I've been a season ticketholder in the Mezz Section since 1985, and I'm still not in good shape. We're all in the same boat.

So if I buy one of your tickets with the $50 tag do I get a % ownership of your PSL?

You will be lucky to get face. Its not hard to score free or cheap tickets at jets game and doubt a psl will change that. Sure its harder on opening day and when the team is doing good. But tickets are free when its cold or the jets suck. I know I have eaten tickets

NO you would only be buying the tickets for 1 game. I would charge you the ticket price PLUS $50 per ticket. Its the only logical thing to do. But will buyers pay it is the question?

Ive eaten many especially the pre-season tickets. I find them easier to swallow marinated in bar bq sauce washed down with a cold beer.

No buyers will not pay. I doubt you would sell your tickets for face value. Say you have $75 seats. You are saying you want to sell them for $150 each or more? That will be a tough sell.

Many will attempt to do this including brokers and on-line agencies. Its the only logical thing to do to help pay for the PSL. I dont see it any other way. Who in their right mind will pay the PSL fee and then just sell a game ticket for face value? Anyone.....................

I know, it is going to be a problem. I expect many empty seats at a brand new stadium until the PSL's are removed.

Who in their right mind will want to help you recoup your PSL fees? Speaking only for myself, I'm not buying tickets that are over-priced like that. You may be able to get some folks to bite on that hook... maybe it depends on the team matchup that Sunday, or if it is with the playoffs on the line, or maybe a special occasion for the buyer. I'm not sure it would be a reliable sell though.

I agree. But as a buyer do you expect the seller to just pay the PSL fee. For years sellers and agencies have been charging more than face value and many have paid it. Only know when you pay it your money will go towards the PSL and not for profit.

The problem with your logic is there will always be thousands of seats held by big corporations and ticket agencies that will be willing to sell at face value or slightly over. Thus undercutting you.

And as someone else above stated, the market determines ticket prices. You can't sell for a price that buyers are not willing to pay. If everyone decided to tack on $50 or $75 per seat to recoup the cost of the PSL's, the majority of buyers would just say screw it and stay home and watch the Jets on TV.

PSL's are bad news for all parties involved. Except Woody that is.

Just as a referance - My tailgate and I had a tough time selling seats for the
last game last year against the Dolphins. We still had a small chance to make the playoffs and nobody wanted to pay face value. We weren't even asking for any extra.

The last game of 2007, against the Chiefs, we sold 6 seats for $25 each. Make your decision wisely.

I'm down south, but still have family in NY, so yes, I would pay the extra to see a game every now and then. But, after what the hell I have to pay for Direct TV, I am better off watching the majority of games down here, with a trip up North at least once or twice a season. But.... Shorts on, grilling out, 60 degree weather. Hell. my house is like one mile from the airport. I can re-create the Shea Stadium years with the planes flying overhead! Besides.... I am one of the few people down south that knows what a Toll Booth is (NJ Turnpike) and can deal with it. :breakdance:

I am in Sec 228 and before that 312. If I bought my present seats it would be $400/tix/game. I go to all the games and I have 7. There is no way I would be able to sell those tix at face value if I couldn't go, let alone ask for more money. I have max seniority and I plan to move to the upper deck again. I am not happy but the thought of spending $28,000/yr for my tix is unthinkable. Woody should rethink the whole situation!

Nobody is going to pay that much anymore. Tixs on Stub Hub for some NBA games are going for under $10
