Fantastic read, very well written and of particular interest now with Michael Oher about to be drafted almost certainly in the first round. If you dont read many books many an exception for this one - http://www.amazon.com/Blind-Side-Ev...bs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1238243632&sr=8-1
the small passage they give about Taylor is absolutely amazing. I wish the Jets would incorporate more mind games and fear into their defense. That's why Ryan is here. Mangini certainly didn't do that.
The Jets defense looked pretty scared to me for most of Mangini's tenure and obviously most of the front 7 was confused as hell about what was going on.
that's why I called them the New York Pussy Jets for the latter part of the season. It was the anti thesis to how a defense is supposed to be run.
Essential reading for any fan of the game. Lewis' main thesis about the importance of left tackles hit it right on the spot. Think about it; it's probable that two third of this year's top three are going to be left tackles. That's a lot of dough for the buffet busters. And even if you aren't particularly interested in Michael Oher, the book spends a lot of time on Bill Walsh and the creation of the West Coast offense. The stuff about Lawrence Taylor and John Ayers is really fascinating. But I honestly think that any general managers or scouts in need of O-Line help who haven't read this book are doing a major disservice to their team. The knocks on Oher? Dim-witted, no passion for the game, etc. Read the book. As soon as Joey Porter or whoever starts yapping, Oher's gonna put him on the bus. I personally hope Jacksonville drafts him; two games a year against Dwight Freeney would be pretty fitting.
Probably one of the biggest reasons as to why I am so high on Oher. He may have a down game every once in a while and may have a bit of a learning disability but the talent and drive is there and he was tested big time in the brutal SEC. Imagine if Oher came out last year.........Long, Clady and Oher. Man oh man.
