Wells is scheduled to visit multiple NFL teams over the next few weeks, according to a league source. Among the visits Wells currently has planned: the Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers and the Seattle Seahawks. Wells was clocked between 4.38 and 4.44 seconds in the 40-yard dash at his campus Pro Day, impressing NFL scouts with his size-speed ratio at 6-foot-1, 235 pounds. Wells told Ohio reporters following the workout that some teams timed him as fast as 4.34 seconds. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Wells registered a 33 1/2 inch vertical leap and bench pressed 225 pounds 25 times. In three seasons for the Buckeyes, the All-Big Ten Conference running back rushed for 3,382 yards and scored 30 touchdowns. The Akron native was twice named the Buckeyes? Most Valuable Player.
I don't think we should spend a 1st rounder on a RB this year. Jones/Washington make a very strong RB tandem. We should address WR/OL and DL depth/QB with the 1st rounder this year IMO
Wells would be a real good addition to the Jets no doubt. Even though T.J is acting like a Bitch Ass Punk, and 30+ he still makes the RB position a secondary need. I still wouldn't be mad if they got him.
MY thinking is... 1. Jones is getting older and contract issues come up... 2. 2 awesome running backs, or 3 this year with TJ takes so much emphasis off of the passing game...we could get by with what we have 3. Goes with number 2...the O-line is stacked so with a dominant running game, the pressure is off of KC or Ratliff
we have several offensive issues to address this year, most prominently WR and QB. running back is not one of them.
Well...Honestly, this isn't the year to go after a RB during rounds one and two for the simple fact we have other question marks surrounding our offense such as WR and QB. The Jets are also pretty solid at running back with Thomas Jones and Leon Washington leading the way. Now NEXT YEAR, I'm all for drafting a RB with our first pick for the simple fact Thomas Jones is getting up there in age and Leon Washington may become a free agent the year after next but as of right now... RB is not a top-notch need.
well thats up for debate because getting a RB like this could eliminate a need for another reciever and also next year RB will be an issue so if we have a chance to get a guy this good now, why not?...plus who are you going to take at 17?...Nicks you can trade up from the 2nd and get because he is dropping...Maclin probably wont be there, but he is like another Leon, Crabtree wont be there, Britt might be there in the second or you can trade up and Harvin is slipping also...I rather have an awesome RB then reach for a wr at 17 or take someone who doesnt fit the role of dominate playmaker just because its a "need".
First OFf wells is injury prone which wil hurt his stockk quIte A bit enterIng the draft. (again he more of a brusier type back for the rAiders and al davis knows this). more than likely will Go with a RT like Andre smith (stock at a all-time low) or maybe Oher falls. jets should go for a frAnchise qb like freeman or sanchez instead of using retardes like ratcliff and short sutmpy clemens. oakland has their fran. qb in Russell...u know how we know?....? simple Al Davis
Wells is not injury prone...he had a hurt foot last year...it gets blown out of proportion...as for a qb give KC and Ratliff a chance...I do not know where all this hatred for them came from...
Wells was productive and he did well at the combine I don't see how this would be a bad pick? He seems like a guy who could go 15 to 25 and at 17 nothing wrong with that value wise and he may well turn into a great NFL back something we need right now.
There are a handful of very good RB prospects with some power that we can pick up in the 3rd-4th round.. Here's a couple: Jeremiah Johnson - Oregon Andre Brown - NC State James Davis - Clemson Cedric Peerman - Virginia Javon Ringer - Michigan St Glen Coffee - Alabama Arian Foster - Tennessee Javarris Williams - Tennessee St Personally, I wouldn't look for a RB too early.
thats the story with the Jets...thats why everyone was so excited with Favre last year...its always..."Don't take the star...wait until the 4th or 5th round or sign Justin Mccareins instead of T.O." I see where you are coming from, but those guys will not be nearly as good as Chris Wells or Mccoy or Moreno...yes some MAY be better, but thats the thing...you use a middle round pick and hope it works out with that player when you have the closest thing to a proven entity at the top of the draft, it doesnt always work out I know, but more often than not, it does...You cant expect to get a Leon, Rhodes or Cotchery every year...
Knowshawn > Mcoy > Wells Beanie Wells is very overrated. Ran slow at the combine. Has a big time injury history. Even if we didn't have TJ i wouldn't want beanie wells. If the jets were to get a RB i would want mccoy in the second round. Big sleeper in the draft.
