i have been a jet fan since they started 50 years ago and i am very disappointed in this off season we got the two guys from balt and nothing else our d was 16th and need more guys then the two they brought in to make us a top 5 d----ryan's schemes mean nothing without the players on offense we have no one who can throw the ball and no one who can catch it letting coles go was a big misteak and not getting cutler was misteak #2 looking at our schedule for this year has me thinking a 4 win season --at most it is to much to hope for that clemens or ratliff will throw for 3500 yards all teams need a top qb if they expect to challenge for a division title-----the pats and dolphins are way ahead of us and buff with TO are a force to be reconed with poor off season by us -----didn't get the guys we needed and we let good ones get away
where slowly adding pieces to the offense and we will have a good defense all the players we got FA were on defense so were making move plus the draft and not to mention last years acquisitions so were on a roll..
Let's not forget Lito Sheppard, and the fact that I don't think Ryan percieves a QB passing for 3500 yards as a prerequisite for success.
That's just it - on D we have the players. Add Ryan's schemes to our group on D and the results should be a top ten defense.
Exactly. It is not like the talent on D is chopped liver. Revis, Rhodes, Harris, Scott, Jenkins, Pace, Sheppard.....ect...
Haha...eso es mi steak: Take our current salary cap situation and add $6 million to it. Leaves us barely enough room to sign our rookies. That's the situation we'd be in with Coles still on the team. Who else would you have liked to sign? We didn't get Cutler because the Broncos didn't want to deal with us, not because we made a mistake. The offseason isn't over yet. Wait to see how we draft. Wait to see who else we may sign. Wait to see if we make any trades. Calm down on Ratliff/Clemens. Top QBs come from somewhere. It would be wrong to expect either one of them to become a franchise QB, but it's just as wrong to suggest that there is no hope for them, or that we can't win without those 3500 passing yards.
Lito Shepphard is a former Pro Bowler and just needs a new start. I agree with you completely. We also brought in Howard Green who is a suitable back up IMO, as well as Marques Douglas who knows Ryans system. Cotchery can sure catch a ball, and did you miss Keller's season last year s134? as far as i can see as long as we add some offensive help in the draft this will be a steller off-season.
This is almost identical to a thread you started a few weeks ago. Then when people called you on being a troll you disappear. Now you reappear and rewrite this gem. Please Stop Posting!
Coles bitched the first time he was here and got traded to Washington and got a new contract. Then he bitched in Washington and got traded back and got a new contract. Then he bitched again and got the final two years of his deal guaranteed. Then he bitched and we let him go. Good riddance. We've got a coach who wants to play D and run the ball. If Tanny had mortaged the new coach's next two first rounders for a gunslinger QB, it would have set Ryan back in instituting his system. Not trading for Cutler was a good thing if you ask me.
When a team has a strong O-Line, running game and a talented Defense... It's almost impossible NOT to win 4+ games. The Jets already had talented players on the Defensive side of the ball (Before Rex Ryan came into town) Players such as... Rhodes and Revis in the secondary with a young potential CB in Lowery. We already had LB's such as Pace and Harris with a young talent in Gholston with a solid deph player in Bryan Thomas. Our D-Line was already solid because of Jenkins and Ellis is still a tough player in my eyes...We do lack deph on the D-Line though. When you add a player like Bart Scott to replace Eric Barton and a player like Sheppard improved the whole secondary and those two players will improve this Defense under Rex Ryan because Sheppard he replaces Lowery as our #2 CB which means Lowery can now slide down to the Nickel/Dime back. Harris and Scott, behind a beast of a NT in Jenkins can be a great combo. Safetys Elam/Leonard Rhodes/Smith CB's Revis Sheppard Lowery LB's Pace Harris Scott Gholston/Thomas D-Line Ellis Jenkins Coleman Thats a defense with playmakers @ every position, sure...We need to add some deph (Thats what the draft is for) But that Defense has the talent and ability to win atleast 5 games itself. Our O-Line and Rushing attack is good enough to win atleast 3 games next year. Thats already 8 wins in my eyes and if we get some solid games out of Kellen and the Jets passing attack, I could see another 3 or 4 wins. With a solid draft, I can see this Jets team winning a good 11-12 games next year. And no...I'm not just being a homer, I REALLY believe in this teams talent
I've been a fan since I was a little boy, maybe 5 years old. I have NEVER EVER given up on this team in my life and I never will. If you come on here and give up the whole season in fricken April, you don't bleed green like I do pal. Lito will have some impact this year, he has to. He is very under rated now since he signed with us and I think he's going to prove a bunch of critics wrong this year. Might not be Pro Bowl bound, but, he will be better than Law was last year which was a joke. As for our D. 1. Our head coach is a GENIUS on the D. Seems he could turn the Lions in to a 8-8 team on his D alone. Call me crazy, but, I feel damn good about this D and if you question it at all, I'm sorry, but, you don't have faith. 2. Bart Scott and David Harris will be one of the most feared middle men in the league. Who will cover you, ok, you got Scott, then Harris will rip your head off! If one doesn't get you, the other will. 3. The DL is the only question IMO, we do need some depth and if we had that we would be a top 7 D team. As for our offense. Right now, we don't know who our QB is going to be. Could be any of the three, my bet would be Clemens. Kellen has seen the system, he's practiced like he would be a starter and I think we all should give him a chance. Thomas Jones just came off a career season and even tho he's up there in age, he still has some gas left in him. Leon is the pace changer and is one of the most valuable players on our team. The O-line is very solid, pending injury, should be great all year. Our WRs is a major question, I think Clowney will be the guy to step up unless we draft someone this year. I feel Cotchery will have a career year with us no matter who is throwing the ball. He know she is the #1 guy now and he will adjust just fine. I think I covered everything that would be a major concern right now. As of this minute I can see us as an 8-8 team depending on injuries and being mostly a running team. Rex might be up for Coach of the year if things pan out as well.
This reminds me of John Clayton...just had a blog recently and mentioned that talent-wise in the AFC EAST...the Dolphins and Bills are battling for the number two spot behind the Pats...not even a mention of the Jets...makes no sense to me...we have playmakers and bonafide STARS on EVERY level of our defense...dont get it
Great post man. We lost a QB in Fave that played like shit the last 4 games and we also lost Coles who is on the decline if you ask me. Who else did we lose with talent? I cant think of any. If we won 9 games last year, I cant see how we dont win atleast 10 games this year with Rex Ryan running our Defense along with the additions of Scott, Sheppard and Leonard. Give us a good draft on the offensive side of the ball and I could see us winning 11 or 12 games next year. I also cant see our 1st 3 games being as tough as it was last year. MIA, SD and NE was a tough three games, I think we started off 1-2 right? All in all...Great post man, I agree on just about everything you said.
