Right... the point is, I don't believe it is the more sure thing, for the reasons listed above.

The play that actually occurred (line out DP) is more improbable than the bad scenarios that come from Molina trying to bunt.

    ETA: Holy shit, Gardner!

Is anyone still in denial that Bruney is our setup man?

Pure gas on that last pitch.

BTW, glad to see the Favre avatar finally gone. I wondered about an hour ago how you still had it.

Yeah, I would have gotten rid of the Favitar a while ago, but I haven't been on from my home computer much lately.

    He's kick ass.

Imagine how good this lineup all the sudden becomes with a healthy ARod.

I do not remember watching a Yankee team with this many weapons. Obviously we need to get healthy first, but if that happens, this team has to potential to win 100 games.

Encouraging win tonight. Bats were alive, got runs when we needed them most. Burnett was awesome, and it was good to beat those pissant gayass Rays who have quickly climbed into the #2 most hated baseball team in my Yankee manual.

Imagine if we had Bruney for the seventh and Joba for the eighth!

ETA: By the way, there's a chance we could kiss Nady goodbye for the season.

Just got back from the game after some bars after. What a performance. And big ups to my girlfriend for the seats she got, about 20 rows up behind homeplate, perfect view. Ill upload a picture tomorrow.

Swisher is awesome. He made up for his bases loaded strikeout and was a beast at the plate again. Burnett was on fire, fastball, slider, curveball were all going for strikes.

I was surprised on Gardner, didn't expect that kind of game for him, and on his insurance run in the 9th I was asking for Damon or Matsui.

The Jeter bomb was the icing on the cake. Great game and I like what I see so far from AJ.

The only gaffe tonight was on a foul ball from Cano, it was hit and I made a lunge for it, had I waited for the rebound it comes right in my hands. But instead goes to the guy 2 rows in front of me. Weak.

Going tomorrow, but ill be up in 3rd level, but 1st row. Let's take 2 series in a row heading home.

Burnett 2 for 2 in stopping losing streaks. Hopefully we get a W today and coming back at 5-4 would be a great start after starting 0-2. Even if they lose and are 4-5 it's still been a good trip after the 0-2 start and facing 3 teams that all had their home openers against the Yanks.

I know it's still too early to start calling games critical, but I think it's very important for us to win this series. This is a very good Rays team, and this division is going to be tough. Every win against someone in it is much bigger than the single game it is.

That said, last night was huge. Burnett steadying the ship again. Swisher making a big statement by knocking a homer and being classy right after a head shot. Teixeira back, and Ransom out. A big late-inning rally. Jeter getting back on track. Bruney being nothing less than a force. All these little side-stories, when added up, make a difference.

And now I'm seeing that ARod might be far ahead of schedule on his return. Imagine what this lineup is going to do as soon as Alex gets inserted right in the middle of it, nevermind the huge upgrade in defense.

The only thing that concerns me is Nady. While I am firmly on the Swisher Must Start bandwagon, I'd hate for Melky to get a promotion as the primary backup outfielder.

Yes but later on Burnett brushed Longoria to where he fell on his back...

About time we have somebody who defends his teammates.

I agree with throwing at him to stand up for a teammate. (Personally, I've never had a problem with throwing inside anyway.) What I do have a problem with though, is the intentionally throwing at people's heads. It's growing far too common, and I don't like it at all.

Plunk a guy in the back. Give him a stinger in the thigh. But don't gun for a guy's skull. You're playing with life at that point.

I just hope it proved its point. Burnett had awesome and complete control last night. By throwing at his head, and not hitting him, he was basically saying "That's your warning. You won't get a second one." Hopefully it ends here. I can't wait to see what happens when we play the Sox...

That pitch wasn't even that close. It was high, but not very tight.

Good think it wasn't Youkilis in the box. He'd be whining to everyone who would listen about how Burnett's got it in for him.

Heh, that's the first thing I thought about last night.

The Sawx can't really say shit about people throwing at heads at this point.
