lets do this again. they made the move in hopes of getting a great qb that will make the team a contender every year. that in turn will sell psl's. it all works together for the benefit of the team if the pick works out. the best way to sell psl's is to have a team that is capable of winning the superbowl. this is a step in that direction.
I 100% agree. I'd rather have an agressive attitude. I was one of the many who Bitch when we did nothing for FA and let so many of our good players go. Actually, That I still bitch about. But you think that all of this would have been done if there were no PSL's? NOPE. Actually, There was alot of nothing before all of the PSL stuff. Coincidence?
where does this leave eric ainge? Now that we have Mark Sanchez.will eric ainge still be in the jets future?I think yes.the jets hyped ratliff so much.that they had the rest of the league convinced that he was the real thing. Mark Sanchez is for real.believe me.the jets coaching staff saw the future greatness in his workouts.he is a pinpoint passer with great accuracy.what they gave up is peanuts for the chance to pickup a future all-pro q.b.as far as eric ainge is concerned.he may turnout to be a great backup.
I agree, I actually liked what I saw in Ainge in college. I have no Problem with him being here and competing.
Hey Royal Tee, Could you consider either changing your font or going with a larger font (or going back to plain black on gray instead of green on gray)? I'd love to engage you in this dialogue but your posts are extremely difficult to read because of font size (mostly). Not being sarcastic or looking for argument... I'm totally serious. Your posts are extremely insightful and well thought out, it's just that I find reading your posts more than a bit of an eyestrain. Ultimately, that leads to not wanting to read them, and I DO WANT TO READ THEM. Just asking....
RT, why is this your standard response to every move? When will it end? No decision is made purely on a football basis. That's the reality of the business. If getting people to buy PSLs has resulted in Favre, FA spending and draft day trades...great. I hope they are always selling PSLs. However, I think Woody hired Tanny knowing he was aggressive and actually lets him make the decisions.
I Like it. I said if we get a QB i wanted Sanchez. Good pick but we did give up a bit to get him. the 2nd Rounder i dont mind so much since we got our "Hopefully" Got our Franchise QB dont mind Coleman cause the new DE we brought in seems more of a fit especially in Ryan's 3-4 since he played in it so that aint bad , But Ratliff and Elam kind of sting especially Elam since he came on strong last season and was arguebly our best playmaker on Defense. An Ratty had alot of hype (Even though it was flawed because it was 3-4 Preseason Games) but he still is young and had promise. Elam hurts the most being gone and Ratty a little but i like Sanchez. I Think we now need to try to get a Vet in here but who's really out there ? Tommorow we draft in the 3rd and 4th hopefully we draft a receiver with one of the picks.
Don't think for a minute that all those empty, expensive, seats in Citi Field and the new YS didn't register on Woody's radar. The Farve deal was all about those unsold PSL's. Marketing is definetly in play here considering the huge Latin population in the greater NY/NJ area. Yes, the kid has talent. He's also MARKETABLE. He's the first "name" QB we've drafted here since you-know-who. This move was shrewed on several levels. We land a top rated QB. We give up next to nada in return. We've eliminated any possibility of a QB controversy even though Clemens so far has been outplaying Ratliff. Guess what else this move has generated.. BUZZ!! It has people talking about the Jets. Publicity can be a two edged sword but Woody and the Jets marketing/sales department has to be drooling over the merchandising possibilities that Sanchez presents. As long as that kid keeps his squeeky clean appearance and produces even marginally on the field, the Jets will play that up for every PSL sale they can get out of it..
Im sure his marketability is part of the reason. But im ok with it. Way more ok with it than getting fucking Farve here last here.
Oh definitely! Ironically, Favre could actually help out more this year by being on the sideline than last year being on the field.
i dont understand what you are complaining about yes they charge PSL , its a fact, there is nothing that can be done to change it. yes this might have a fact in the matter that the Jets are more aggresive when it comes to free agents and trades. so do you prefer the Jets not to be aggresive and not sign anyone good or trade for anyone good? what are you complaining about? that Woody gave us a lot of shit for a while but now that things are good we should not forget about it? what would that do to help us other then bitching about something thats in the past? we need to look for the future and how the team will shape up , it doesnt matter what happened on the past , it is the past. and i still dont get your point
It's just shining a light on reality. on Woody's true agenda. He doesn't give a crap about the fans. It's all about the bottom line with him. That's all. Just want people to see what the owners motives really are. IMO, too many people think he actually cares because he just recently started spending money. Hence the reference to his recent activities. And let me ask you this, are you a season ticket holder?
i have no idea if the move would have been made without psl's. i just don't have a problem with the team making moves that will sell psl's. i think any move that will help increase psl sales is also a move that should help put a better team on the field.
Favre: Hello Mr. Johnson, I was thinking maybe I made a mistake. I think I was to come back for another year to be the Quarterba... Woody: *click* Favre: Hello?
He already has been in commercials. When watching Total Access, the only NFL netwrork show we get on a regular basis our QB of the future gave flawless run down on the Sprint cell phone packages to keep up with the draft
i am not a season ticket holder(i live in los angeles) but thats not the issue. ofcourse Woody cares the most about money , geuss what , most pro teams owners cares mostly about there money, its a business for them, they own the business, they want the business to make money. this is just how it is , and it will never change. Woody wants to make money and thats his #1 priority , anyone who cant see that is stupid, this is how things are. and while in the process of making money he is getting good players and being an aggresive owner and as a result of that makes the team better, why should i complain? do think someone will buy a pro sport team that cost multi million dollars to lose money?
This is looking way too far into the pick....Does having a franchise QB help fill seats? Yep....But it does even more for a team that wants to win. I think has more to do with winning than it does with PSLs...With or without Sanchez, the stadium will be filled...Do you really think that season ticket holders aren't going to pay, or that those seats won't sell? The Yankees are different because they want to charge 2500 bucks for a premium seat, each game, for 81 games...That's a lot more money, and a different circumstance. How can you bemoan the second rounder? Do you honestly think that the Browns would have traded out of the 5 hole with no extra picks? Or would you rather have traded away higher calibur talent? We jumped 7 spots, and got our guy for a swap of 1's and a 2...We let 3 marginal players go....If anything I'd be upset that they traded so much to get Detroits pick for Green when we have a gaping hole at WR.
