OK, so I came out pretty strong about my worry that we are going down a road already travelled with Sanchez but there are some things I really like about him so far: 1. In all my days watching a draft, I am not sure I have ever seen a player as happy as Mark was when we selected him. That was awesome, and it is great to have a player that really really wants to be here. 2. I love his energy and charisma. It might not mean much on the field, and maybe just a show for the media and fans, but if Sanchez can exude the same energy and charisma in the locker room, he can quickly get the team behind him and playing hard. 3. I love his release. I think a really quick release is one of the most overlooked elements of a great QB and Mark has that. 4. I love his footwork. In the clips I have seen he shows pro-caliber footwork. In fact it reminds me a lot of Brett Favre when you watch him. 5. I also really like that pretty much every analyst either really likes or loves the guy. If Gil Brandt liked him just a little more it might remove the remaining doubt I have about his ability to be the franchise guy, but everyone else seems really high on him, many of which rate him higher than Stafford. Not going into negatives here, just the positive things I see that make me as a Jets fan excited to see him on the field. And there is a 100% chance outside of an injury of him starting on opening day.
My favorite part is the leadership quality. Its been said he dwarfs Leinart and Palmer in this category. He's a gym rat and the type of hard worker that makes other guys want to get in the gym and work with him. That's huge as an NFL QB.
reminds you of Favre's footwork? I don't think thats a good thing... How many throws do you see off of his back foot?
I think there is a lot to like about Sanchez. I truly believe he is our answer to 30+ years of QB woes.
fu**ing snachez; that's hilarious. I'm torn about the pronunciation though. Sna shay or snatches or even sna 'chez.
for those that dont get it, he said snachez cuz we traded up and SNATCHED him in the draft...pretty clever...and ya, favre's footwork isnt a bad thing if we're talking 8-10 years ago. favre was a great QB. last year was clearly not his best season, but anyone that expected it to be is dumb. i love the pick. the only downside to picking snachez, from what i've heard at least, is the fact that he hasnt started many games in college - i think its like 14 or 15? but if he had stayed in college for 1 more year, that so called "problem" would disappear, and he'd go #1 overall in next years draft. i'm excited to see what he can do
Between that one and Dirty Sanchez, he could develop quite a reputation just by nicknames and misspellings.... PS - I'm also very happy we got him, and I hope to be rooting for him for several years to come.
"Snatch" is now the shortened form of his name. "Nice toss, Snatch" "Go, snatch, go!" "You pound that ass, Snatch"
