Ok, I've just gotta vent for a minute here. So I'm havin a good time right? Playin pool, havin some beer... and suddenly they start talkin about Sanchez on the radio so I'm like alright sweet! They start taking calls and this guy says he will do good in the future (agreed) but the first 2 or 3 years he will suck. Ok well the host asks why does he think that. This dumbass said our offensive line is terrible and will hold him back until we fix it. The host disagreed thankfully and defended us but this guy said we needed 2 guards and a center. Un-real how stupid some people can be that get on the air.
95% of fans don't know anything. listening to dopes who call in is not a good idea... i've worked on my power button speed. I can turn off a dumbass on the radio in .534 seconds.
Agreed. Thankfully, on these message boards that percentage drops down to about 80% Seriously though, even listening to the FAN, where the intelligence of the callers is maybe a shred higher, I find myself shaking my head in disgust. How the hell do these douchefucks even figure out how to dial a phone? Speaking of the FAN, (and douchefucks) Evan Roberts had the line of the day this morning. In reasoning why he didn't like the trade up for Sanchez, he claimed that franchise QBs can "be found anywhere".
I guess that guy did not watch a single game last year. If the Jets O-line is so crappy why did it lead the way for the AFC rushing champ. Must have been the idiot hour of the show.
No kidding, but they screen for the topic, not the intelligence unfortunately. You get guys like that on NFL Radio every now and again and they are usually cut off as soon as the stupid comment comes out....
which is? Look, franchise QB's are hard to find. But you can't tell me that a first round pick is a guaranteed stud.
Obviously not, but you don't pass on the opportunity to get a franchise-type QB because you can, supposedly, always get them anywhere. Naturally, Evan screams "Look at Tom Brady"....which is just silly. You can't base a draft strategy on a once-a-generation type flukey pick. That's like reasoning, "let's never, ever draft a stud QB...you can always find one as an undrafted free agent! Look at Romo and Warner!"
I was listening and heard that too. Reminds me of those old ESPN commercials where the guy is talking out of his ass. Dude was from Virginia and had no clue about the Jets but just wanted to get on radio and sound smart. Not sure who was hosting but dude said the Jets o-line was above average or average at worst.
Guy has no fucking knowledge. Center ? Mangold is one of the best young centers in football and same with D'brick.
hes good... hes really good... hes one of the best centers in the league. but hes not our best player. Revis is. Jenkins is close too. And I'm hoping that Sanchez will be our best player for the next 15 years. Fuck, I hope Sanchez will be the best player ever for the next 15 years.
you can't tell me that looking in the late rounds is going to guarantee you anything either. one QB in the 6th round that is a sure fire HOF.... I'll take my chances in the 1st round.
Bingo.... look at all the QB's that were drafted ahead of Brady... guys like Spurgeon Wynn and Hofstra's own Giovanni Carmozza. If the Pats knew he was going to be so good they wouldn't have let 150+ picks go by to nab him. Word on the street is Mike Riley of the Chargers wanted Brady but was overruled for a guy named JuJuan Seider. My guess is the Pats were just looking for a guy with a decent arm to back up Bledsoe in case of injury and realized what they had when they got him into camp. Some stats to prove your point Since 1970: 31 QBs drafted in the 1st round have made the Pro Bowl 11 have started and won the SB 12 QBs including 3 surefire HOF active QB's have been elected to the HOF and 6 of those 12 were 1st round picks and 3of the remaining 6 were drafted in the 2nd and 3rd round.
