Any thoughts on him, not too familiar. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2009/04/patriots_acquir.html
Again I'm scooped on a story. Anyway, this reeks of a NE pre-emptive strike. This is why they are a top organization. Would they allow us to get Randy Moss? I don't think so.
I'm pretty sure there were a bunch of us here who wanted the jets to draft smith a few years ago. How's his blocking?
He is known as a good blocker. Was a thread about him started a few days ago when it was rumored he was on trading block.
So now they have 6 TEs on their roster. Chris Baker Tyson DeVree Brad Listorti Alex Smith David Thomas Benjamin Watson Nathan Hodel
Wouldnt it be interesting if Baker never makes it out of TC similar to Victor Hobson last year? It's certainly possible..
I think it's possible but unlikely, Baker had some mishaps last season but I think he easily has the best hands of any TE on their roster.
You're right...but his average to below average speed may hold him back. Both Smith and Watson are far more athletic and fast...and David thomas has a leg up w/ 3 years in the system and happens to be alot more versatile. It's funny that the Pats are always loading up on these TE'S but havent emphasized them in their offense since the days of Christian Fauria and Daniel Graham.
That's the part that always makes me wonder, too. They place a lot of attention to TE and the position never makes a huge impact.
Somehow I missed the transaction of Pociask to the bucs either last year or this offseason. Interesting that the bucs seem to want to keep him. I was of the mind to cut C-Bak last year and keep Pociask. I know others agreed on his potential.
Graham was a GREAT blocking TE who had his moments catching the ball, and Watson just can't stay healthy. Neither one of them are "bums" Fauria was decent also.
