Ok I must be losing my mind but when did we have Quincy Carter on the team? I must have blacked this out...
17/23. I got everyone above the QC line except Matt Robinson. I think I remember Trudeau and Eason somewhere in the deep recesses of my brain, but I have no idea who the hell those last 3 are.
16/23. Missed everyone below Carter, Frank Reich, and Browning Nagle(how the fuck did I forget that name?)
Jets won three of his starts when he came in with little prep, and a game plan geared to short armed Chad. The Jets didn't even have a single long pass play in their playbook, yet Carter got one off for a TD. How was playing him a big mistake?
Parcells is who I remember when I think about Mirer. 1999 and no real backup QB on the roster and he knew it and didn't fix it. I remember seeing him interviewed at the end of training camp and he basically said: "well if Vinny goes down we're hosed but you have to take your chances somewhere." The dumbest move of a long and successful career.
14 of 23....should have been 16 but I couldn't remember bubby and frank reich Wouldn't have known anyone else.
18/23 I remembered names that did not appear including Kliff Kingsbury,Tom Tupa, Chuck Clements,Jeff Blake,Jay Fiedler,Scott Zolak,& Frank Reich.....but forgot Matt Robinson among others.
I know that Fiedler never started a game so he wouldn't fit the bill. Remember he came in for an injured pennington and immediately got injured himself? I don't think Tupa did either. I don't remember anything about the others on the Jets.
Reich was actually on the list. He was the last name I got, and it was basically an educated guess. I typed in Kingsbury, Tupa, Zolak, Clements, Ratliff, and TORY WOODBURY. Would have gone Marquell Blackwell, too, but no use beating your head against a wall
Tory Woodbury is a good one! I remember he and Chuck Clements battling it out in TC in 98 to be the 3rd stringer w/ upside behind Foley/Testaverde who were also battling it out! Marques Blackwell is another good one.
Fiedler appeared in two games with the Jets and started neither. The only times Tupa started NFL games as a quarterback were for the Phoenix Cardinals in 1989 and 1991.
