That's the truth. Love how they treated Brett and that lost no hitter as breaking news...Jim Johnson, just another story.
I thought Vick was an outstanding QB! No QB has ever rushed for over a 1000 yards in one saeson before. He had a cannon arm. The only thing he really lacked was a brain to process it all. And did I mention that he took a very dismal team all the way to the NFC championship game?
Vick is incredibly underrated as a QB. No he wasn't a great passer but he found ways to win which is more important. In the short term I think he'll be good in a wildcat type role but before too long he can be a good QB again.
FYP. For a #1 overall pick, Vick was atrocious. He had no accuracy, didn't understand how to check down to his HBs, and turned the Falcons' offense into a one dimensional circus. So the fuck what if he took a team to the Conference Championship, there have been plenty of horrible QBs that have done just as well or better thanks to the rest of their team (Tony Eason played in a Super Bowl; Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, and Jeff Hostetler won Super Bowls). As for him running for 1000+ yards: whoody shit. That's the tailback's job. The QB is supposed to throw the ball. To his own receivers. He has a career completion percentage of 53.8%. He's not a QB. He's a running back with an arm.
Atlanta was 38-28-1 w/ him as a starter from 2001-2006. In games he didn't start from '01-'06 the Falcons were 9-20. The 3 years before he took over as a starter Atlanta went 15-31, the year after Vick they went 4-12. He was alot better than people give him credit for, the QB position is not about fantasy #s.
The year after Vick they went 4-12 because they did not have time to find a replacement fast enough. Chris Redman was not the answer.
Completion percentage is a fantasy number? The guy was a terrible QB. Good football player? Yes. Good QB? No. He was a raw talent who in six years couldn't develop as a passer. They might as well as just given him direct snaps since 2001 rather than let him try and throw it.
This is ridiculous Can you name Vick's wrs Until Roddy White finally developed in his third season, Atlanta hasn't had a top notch WR in Vick's tenure. To call him underdeveloped, you haven't watched his games. Nor do you know anything about having good receivers.
Back to Favre.......... I saw this news last night at a sports bar with some friends. My first reaction was "You gotta be shitting me." After all that, he just retires. Talk about media blueballs! But now that I've had time to think about it, I should have seen this coming the whole time. This is exactly like him... and this is far from over. Speculation will continue all the way up until week 1. And I would NOT be surprised if next year he gets the itch to play, or like someone else already posted, maybe even halfway into the season.
+1 to all of that. Don't forget about Rosenfels and Jackson who have been completely emasculated by this whole process. They already have their horrible talent problems to deal with but this whole Favre situation had to have completely screwed them out of any clout they could have carried in the locker room. Because I can't let it go... Kevin Finneran, Algee Crumpler, Dez White. Roddy White's emergence had less to do with his third year and more with the arrival of Matt Ryan who can actually complete passes to his targets. As a passer, he was absolute shit. He was an amazing athlete which got him a bunch of wins in the regular season but once he made it into the playoffs he started coming up against defenses that could stop the run and that's why his crowning achievement of his career is going to be a lone Conference Championship where he got embarrassed by the Eagles' defense both running and passing the ball.
Do you think it's a coincidence that the Falcons' WRs started to play better once they had an actual QB throwing them the ball? Vick is a gimmick player, he doesn't have the mental capacity to run an offense and, as such, you can't build a team around him.
No way Favre is done. That POS has said before that he knows Minnesota's offense inside and out. He's probably waiting until two-a-days are over and then he'll miraculously get the itch to play again a couple of weeks before the season starts. He won't have to learn a new offense like he did with the Jets since he supposedly knows the one they run in Minnesota already.
Because all backup QBs can come in and take over the offensive system tailor-made for their athletic-freak of a QB. To be a QB you need to be able to actually THROW THE BALL EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. Vick never demonstrated the ability to be even a consistently mediocre passer. If he had he could have combined this with his God-Given talent and been one hell of a player. He's overrated as a QB. And by the way, he's a great fantasy player. Fantasy football is won by running backs...and Vick could be one hell of a running back.
