I'm bored this morning and just studying the stas and clips. Coming into the pre-saeason the Jets were one of the biggest unknowns at all three QB positions with the Viking, Raiders and Lions with then. Well after only one pre=season game all four teams are showing they should be fine with what they have. Wow! The big teams like Steelers, Colts, Giants and Pats are not looking so great in the depth department and could be one injury from a sub-500 year. Here is my breakdown so far of the rich and poor. Best teams are no surprise the best passing teams from last year: Saints (Wow) Cardinals (Does he look old or what?) Chargers (Is what it is) Eagles (Even before Vick arrived) Raven (400+ passing yards and NO turnovers.) Falcons (It may have been helped by Detroits defense but they looked good.) They have finally arrived: Jets (We now have a clear picture of our QBs and to be honest I have no worries.) Buffalo (They look solid and I am more worried about them than Miami.) 49ers (Who will start the regular season is far from decided.) Detroit (Was it the Falcons defense or did all the QBs look okay?) Raiders (All their QB did okay and don't count out Gradkowski for the #1 spot.) The picture is coming into focus but depth is a question: Vikings (Rosenfels is proving he is the answer, Favre better get comfy in his recliner.) Denver (Sims just jumped over Orton and is well on his way to being a starter once again.) Texans (Schaud is the guy, no question, but who is after him?) Question and more questions, good and bad: Rams (Bulger went 4 of 4 vs our 1st team and our 2nd/3rd team didn't make the others look bad.) Cleveland (They have two starting QBs but will they show up for a game?) Chicago (Paid a lot for a proven QB who has yet proven why.) Seattle (Looks good on paper, but will the back stand up to the hits and is Wallace the answer if it doesn't?) Titans (Collins is back again, but can Young beat out the traveling Ramsey for #2? Bigger question is wether Young will have another breakdown?) They better pray for an answer or miracle: KC Chiefs (After paying all that money they still may not know why.) Tampa Bay (Who will step up, or win by default?) Washington (They wanted Cutler or someone else, anyone else for a reason. Their division will eat them alive.))
After 1 preseason game involving players who wont be here when the season starts, you conclude that we'll be ok?
My list says that after one preseason game no one has the slightest idea what they have, other than based on what their QBs have done in the league in the past. Which means that the Jets know as little of what they have as just about any team in the NFL.
I love it. So many problems with this. A few of my favorites. Apparently, there are only 26 teams in the NFL. Did the Dolphins, Texans, Bengals, Panthers, Jaguars, and Packers get contracted? Baltimore was one of the top passing teams last season? Last time I checked, they were in the bottom 10...maybe even bottom 5. Their success came on the ground. The Jets, Raiders, and 49ers are in the "they've finally arrived category". Uh, what?
1st Chicago gave up two #1s and a whole lot of money and so far Culter has shove nothing but his ability to talk. Even in practice he has failed to take charge of the team. 2nd Sanchez will start next week and the rest of the year. Also we feel so good about Eric we are now down to only three QBs. Falcons and Ravens, barring the sophmore slump will only get better and they have depth at the position. Plus they have each added weapons on offense. Some teams aren't mentions which is more due to them not playing yet or even less information than the rest.
What do the Redskins, Detroit, Buffalo, St Louis and Chicago all have in common?!?! Their O-Line STINKS. Every one of those teams have poor O-Lines and it should not be a surprise if each of the QBs on those squads happen to struggle or not put up the numbers that are expected(Except with Cutler he can get away with a bad line but its the new offensive playbook that could be his doing) It all doesn't fall just on the QB and the QB alone, if anything the O-Line has a bigger say towards how a QB performs or not. Keep the QB protected, expect the QB to thrive.....Do not keep the QB protected and you will have a QB just wanting to get rid of the ball ASAP which will lead to pickoffs and failed drives.
I think it's way to early to make any conclusions about our QB situation. Way to early being a huge understatement. They've both thrown 4 fuckin' passes.
