And people will likely remember Favre solely for what he did on the field. There were discussions when Jordan returned to the Wizards that he was tarnishing his legacy as well. It'll pass.
I heard on the NFL Radio 2-minute drill that Favre has a minor tear in his rotator cuff (not sure if it is the throwing arm) but will play in the team's game this Friday.
It's actually a lot different. Jordan may have been indecisive and pulled the string on his retirement prematurely. However he never made the media, fans and league wait with baited breath for 3 or 4 entire offseasons, for many months at a time, just to decide whether or not he felt good that day and wanted to come back. This is why Jordan will be remembered solely for his on the field accomplishments whereas Favre will be remembered a lot for his off the field drama in addition to his playing career.
That's very true, and could definitely factor in. I still say he's remembered just for his on the field actions in a few years, but it's definitely a different situation. Of course, the media is quite different today than it was even in 2001, so it's hard to say how any of this will pan out.
Really? cuz he needed to go into that mode with us. I was at the kansas city game last year. It was obvious we were the much superior team but Favre threw 3 ints, 2 he threw directly at Kansas city players. We won that game in SPITE of BF not because of him. Once a gunslinger always a gunslinger, and the same thing is going to happen in Minnesota, when he threw an int with the jets mangini patted him on the back and said "not your fault" there was no reprocussions for his actions, he knows it. He does whatever he wants.
Look, I have no idea what triggered him into going nuts at the end of the season, but clearly there was something different. Maybe he'll do the same thing, who knows. The difference here is that he knows the offense inside and out and has the best running back the NFL has seen in a while.
There's a difference, junc. The Jets offensive playbook had to be dumbed down for Favre.....in Minny, he's walking into Bevell's system, which he knows quite well....there will be next to no learning curve other than building team chemistry. I have a hunch, if Favre stays healthy, he'll be successful with the vikes.
Favre to Vikings Official http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4406963 I knew it....all that's left is the physical and then it's official
If our QB doesn't turn it over 2-3 times a game we'll have a better QB. favre was terrible last year. The team now has another new coach, new system on D, suspensions to 2 of our best defensive players, we lost our best WR. This is not the same team and last year we had a cake sched and no Brady to deal w/. I can't say I saw how the played Minny but I know how they played us and they wanted us to throw the football. Favre scared no one except in that 3-4 game stretch before the collapse. Maybe GB wouldn't have amde the title game but he still threw it away for them. Favre was awful all game long, he made one play all game. The Giants were begging GB to win that game w/ all the missed FGs and he couldn't take advantage. Do I have another stalker? Will we get another brilliant argument from you like how Brady is a system QB built by great coaching but those coaches couldn't win w/o him:rofl: get back to me after someone explains football to you. W/ the game on the line what did he do? That was a tough game, they didn't bring their A game but w/ the SB on the line he drove them 80 yds, w/ the NFC Title on the line Favre threw one of the worst INTs you will ever see and instantly put the Giants in FG range to win the game. Plus the fact that Jordan is arguably the games best player ever while favre is a HOFer but nowhere the top 5-10 QBs in NFL history. He still has to get used to new teammates, new surroundings, etc... It should be easier for him this time but it won't be easy.
He's a phony. Not that he wants to play, I respect that but it's so obvious that the guy wants no part of these training camps which is just selfish and not being a winner.
