It's so easy to say "I'll take Bowe.".....duh. But would you give up a #1 or #2 to get him? Aaah. Not so easy now. The fact is we have no 'extra' pieces to trade so it would have to be draft picks and I have no desire to do that. Let's see what the young guys have.

BTW, I think the talk of S Moss is assuming he's cut. Somebody (maybe) two guys are going to get cut from the Gints. If you wanted to trade for S Moss all you would have to give is a #6 or #7.

I can understand your point for everything except Jones. He's not going to hold out this late in camp and his cap number for his 4th year makes him a near-guaranteed cap casualty after this season. Jones isn't someone to worry about right now. He wants to get paid which isn't going to happen for a 30, 31 y/o halfback who holds out during a season.

I wouldn't give them half a bag of stale chips for Moss.

You could offer an empty bag of stale chips and the Giants would offer to pay his salary as long as the Jets took him and freed up a roster spot.

a #2....yes....no question about it. You make that deal for Bowe.

but I would refrain from trading away our #1....not with the projected talent pool in the 2010 draft

How much would it kill you if they kept Moss and let go of Reyes or Evans?

If Marshall keeps his head on straight he is a top 5 WR in the NFL. He is the big, fast, physical presence we've needed and he is the BEST WR blocker in the NFL in front of Hines Ward...which could help makeup for Keller until he improves. Plus, he is only 25.

    Get this deal done please!

Agreed about Jones being a non factor. Its the message to the rest of the team that worries me CK. Although its not being talked about in public, you gotta believe the team is watching how this plays out with Washington and Jones. They've already got a bad taste with the Kendall fiasco and if Tanny starts to foster a culture of distrust amongst the established core players, it will bite him AND us in the ass one day soon.

Not as much as I would kill Moss. I would track him down. Even though he's faster than I am, I know he can't get separation. The only thing I can't do is try to kill him through biological warfare; God Knows he can't catch anything.

If I'm Tanny, I'm honestly worried about my job at this point. Three consecutive years of contract-related player disputes, typically coming in twos, constantly trading up for top talent and ignoring depth in the trenches; if this season goes anywhere aside the playoffs, I think we're going to start hearing a lot more calls for his head by the team the post-season rolls around.

Fair point. I think he could fix the draft concerns by (for once) sitting pat and taking the talent on the board at his spot. The contract issues, however, are disconcerting. It's been going on for sometime with him and talented, if not excessively so, players. His job could be in jeopardy, though I think he gets one more year after this one as the inexperience of Ryan and Sanchez might buy him some time.

every team has contract disputes, my guess is if you polled the diehard fans of other teams I bet they get at least 1 contract dispute every year. The players are always trying to negotiate for more money, whether they be average like Chris Baker, or exceptional like Chad OchoCinco. Tanny is trying to make deals with the guys he sees as being long term Jets, ala Rhodes and Leon. He is playing hardball with the guys he feels aren't going to be around much longer, ala Kendall and Jones....

Why should his job be in jeopardy though? Tanny has done pretty much everything our fanbase and owner has asked, he brought us Favre, he drafted Gholston last year, this year he made the kamikaze move for Sanchez, granted it is a better deal than anybody could have imagined he could pull off, but it still is a kamikaze move, if Sanchez fails so does Tanny.

Tanny is spending money like crazy on the first few days of FA in order to bring in top talent so we can compete. He is drafting guys who develop into pro-bowlers in 3 seasons or less Mangold, Revis, Brick (alt.) Leon all come to mind. Pretty much all of his draft picks have contributed to the org. minus of course the schlegal mishap and Gholstons horrendous rookie year.

when tanny trades up he has been 100% on the money, how many GM's can say that? not many i bet. Tanny has been the best GM we have had in a long time as far as doing everything right and pleasing everybody. Yes he hasn't built the depth on the lines up, but isnt that pretty much the only thing he hasnt done?

My opinion is that if we only have to give up a single draft pick to get a top WR that about 90% of the league expects us to draft in the first 2 rounds next year anyways why not?

    bingo.

With what this new draft class could be, I'd like to make that pick a 10 year player rather than the cheap quick fix.

if the Jets fall between 15-20, let's pickup some trench depth rather than a flashy pain the in ass, even though they can make plays.

I'm not worried about the top end talent, it's the lack of depth that is the problem. Sure we have a lot of talent in the starting rotation, but if we lose Jenkins, the run defense becomes non-existent. Look at what happened to running game last week when we were missing Faneca, Woody, and Mangold were out. Non-factors right now but this is a pretty violent game and any one of them...or Brick...or Moore...could get hurt during the regular season.

??? Bowe is 24 and Marshall is 25. It's not like we're renting a player for a year with either of these two. Both could be staples for this offense for another 7-8 years depending on health and legal troubles(for the love of god, Marshall, learn from this offseason!).

Derek Hagan is another likely cut from the Giants. Apparently he's had a good camp but will get caught up in a numbers game.

to be honest, i don't know where i got that from.

what a horrible phrase to use for players drafted a few years back.

maybe it was due to posting in the favre thread a little while ago.

What about trading Washington for Marshall? Woodhead is similar to Washington (I'm not saying he is as good, not even close, just his strengths are the same as LW) plus altough Washington has a little less talent then Marshall he is a perfect team player. Also both want new contracts. Doesn't that kind of even them out in terms of trading value?

PS I'M NOT SUGGESTING WE DO THIS, I'D PREFER NOT... but there is some logic to it...

He was terrible on Monday and has had shaky hands since he came into the league. Pass.
