I have to say for a rookie this kid has composure. He has by far the most filthy pump fake I've ever seen, throws a tight ball, and is incredibly accurate. He has definitely shown that his composure is at a high level and he posses the ability to lead a huddle.

That being said. The Ravens game was by far his worst. It was also the most intense, environment and opponent wise IMO. But for his first real test where he fell on his face, he picked himself back up and came back to throw a TD. He doesn't panic and I am very pleased with what I've seen from him thus far.

    His drive tonight. Flawless

I hope this transitions into the regular season which is clearly a different situation. Just ask David Clowney.

    Thoughts?

I'm actually kinda worried he got too comfortable with about 5 seconds to throw every ball today. That ain't gonna happen next week.

He's definitely shown some stuff this preseason though.

I agree with everything you said. Throws a beautiful ball, looks commanding in the huddle, and his pump fake gives safeties a fit. If he has a great career, scouts will then refer to that move as the "sanchez fake"

The Ravens game is exactly what I expected, but it wasn't for the whole game - and that's what impressed me the most about him. He responded to the pressure. If its any indication to what is to come, we are in luck.

I'm pretty sure that the Ravens and Giants games allayed any misconceptions about how much time he's going to have throwing the ball against a starting NFL rush.

It's nice to see what he can do when he has some time, and I think he needed a confidence booster going into week one. He hasn't exactly had a lot of time to throw in the pocket against a different team up until this game.

    I frigging love his footwork.

Absolutely. That was my second thought after thinking "you're not gonna have that kinda time in a real game kid, don't get comfortable." If they can get him time he WILL find an open receiver and put the ball in a good spot.

He looks like he's a bit ahead of schedule at this point. Looks like he'll have an ok rookie year and avoid the stumbling around early games that almost every rookie QB goes through. That still means 7-9 or 8-8 but that's a lot better than the 6-10 or even 5-11 I thought might be in the cards.

the thing you like about Sanchez is that he doesn't worry about the pressure. He simply steps up in the pocket or moves where he needs to be to get into a better position to make the throw. very impressive.

as for the arm strength, i don't see the issue. he has a good arm. maybe not cutler like but he throws a good ball.

It seems he handled being chased down by Giants front 7 just fine. He put up 7 throwing off his backpedal pretty much.

cutler has maybe the strongest arm in the game.

    that's an unfair comparison.

His arm strength is fine. We were so used to Chad that its still a scrutinized aspect of the Quarterback.

I'm not trying to pick on your post, I just want everyone to know.

well I wasn't saying anything bad about his arm I think he has a good arm. recently i was hearing things about how is arm isn't that good. Francesa said it...not that I care what that idiot thinks but IDK where he gets his info from.

but I think you're right with the Chad thing. How many current QB's have a Chad arm? I can't think of any off the top of my head. Chad just happens to be one of the few that can succeed with a below avg arm.

Francesa won't give credit to a non Giant. Its in his contract :)

Once Sanchez's career gets going, the arm strength BS will go away, and we as Jets fans can live a little easier.

    EDIT: Danny Woodhead looks 14.

I'd say this preseason was a huge success. Sanchez has looked pretty damn good. And when he's looked bad, he's handled it well.... Facing Baltimore and NYG defenses even in preseason isn't easy. So far so fuckin' good. Let's hope it spills over to the reg season.

agreed on the time in the pocket. he played very very well today though.

he has shown progression each week in preseason and that is EXACTLY what you want to see.

there all of you guys who think i hate the kid i said something nice :) because he deserves me to say something nice today.

Matt Stafford Preseason week 4 stats: 5/9 81 yds 1 INT, 1 fumble vs BUF
Mark Sanchez Preseason week 4 stats: 5/5 67 yds 1 TD vs PHI

    I like.

For the record I'd MUCH rather have Sanchez and the opportunity that he represents as opposed to Cutler and the proven failure that he represents. Being a big time QB while your team is sucking is kind of the definition of useless.
