How things have fallen for Eric Mangini...It truly shows that we had the pieces here and we made Mangini look good at times but his decisions and coaching cost us too...The Browns have got it bad
I don't care who the coach is, that team is 0-3 no matter who's on the sidelines. Can't blame everything on him. All the other crap (buses, fines, etc) is his fault. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. That's a piss poor team that will suck for years no matter what.
While this may be true, you still can't ignore the coaches contribution to the mess simply because a different coach could've changed the culture and begun to build a winning attitude. Mangini is not capable of building a winning attitude. He's simply not a winner as a head coach.

Making noise about 'not announcing the starter' before the opener....fining a player $1701 for a bottle of water ( isn't BE #17).... total distractions, and not a way to get your players to play for you. Initially, I was not in agreement with him getting fired....obviously changed my mind.....look at the manlove post.. I'm in.
Mangini is reminding me more and more of Capt. Queeg of the Caine Mutiny. All he needs is two metal balls on the sidelines. Then again, if he had balls, this wouldn't be happening to him would it... The Cleveland Browns are nortorious for being slow to pull the trigger on administrative moves so Mangina has a good chance of finishing his contract but not being offered a second unless the teams does a complete 180. Romeo Crennell had forever to get the team pointed in the right direction and to remove Mangina quickly would signal to the fanbase that this FO really doesn't have a fckn clue as to how to run a modern NFL franchise.
In hindsight, we made out like bandits on the trade. They weren't all garbage players though. The Kenyon Coleman is a solid (not great) DE. I liked Elam and had hopes for Ratty. So, Mangini got some players that he knew what he had with and didn't have to take a chance with a rookie QB. In Mangini's "play not to lose" world, that's not too bad.
Don't feel so bad, yes they have the biggest piece of shit coach in the NFL and a team with ZERO chance to win anything, yes had a fire sale for the Indians and have one of the worst teams in baseball, but they have LeBron and Shaq (for this year, at least)
I was honestly stunned that he got another HC job so quickly after the Jets canned him. Right now it looks like the Browns and Rams will be battling for the top pick in 2010.
Unless there is a disaster in that locker room that we are not aware of , he has at least one year to f-up! I will say with two serviceable Quarter backs he does look like a moron in terms of personnel decisions for the year.
I think Mangini will have success as a President of Football Operations, like the position Bill Parcells has with the Dolphins, or maybe as a scout. The dude just does not know how to be a head coach. Players don't want to play for him, not because he's a douchebag (he is), but because he's a douchebag who doesn't know how to win. He built a fine football team in New York, but he just didn't know what to do with them on Sundays. I think it might have been John Madden who said that when teams consistently lose games by a close margin, it's because of poor coaching. Yesterday's game is one Mangini would have lost. So was the Patriots game.
