I recollect some of your posts, questioning posters' football knowledge and "worst thread ever" type of stuff for questioning TJ.

    That's vehement to me.

Could the reason we moved up the draft for Greene be because we had a 30 year old RB who was grumbling about his contract?

Also if TJ is as mediocre as you make him out to be, why has he been in the top 5 in yardage in the past 5-6 years, I forget the stat exactly? Are all there a bunch a bad backs in the league?

You just described the career of Barry Sanders with that line. I expect that kind of production out of Leon. He'll get stopped for some short gains or losses, but he's so explosive that we expect him to break a few long runs per game. That's where his yardage will come from. TJ's problem is the one that needs to be addressed. That late game push we saw from him in the Houston game was rather uncharacteristic. We need him to be a solid 3 - 5 yard back straight up the gut. I, like many others, will forgive the Tennessee game. This week, however, is going to be quite telling in what is going on with TJ.

'Thomas Jones is a power back.'

    Worst misconception on this forum.

unfortunately, we are outnumbered. There doesn't seem to be to many of us rational posters left.

I'm sick of him falling over his own feet and going down the second he is touched.

I'm with you on this and my opinion is close to yours. I've enjoyed these 3 games immensely but that doesn't mean there's not room for improvement. If Ryan considers it noteworthy to make a comment on it after last week's game and now this week (the O-line or lack of production in the running game), then clearly we have a problem.

Above all, it's only a discussion we're having. There's really never any need for people to go into orbit over someone else's opinions.

More like a "durable cut-back runner who needs a 6 yard hole to avoid being smacked at the LOS".

I'm not anti-Jones but right now he's looking extremely ineffective, and with Washington able to actually perform quality runs it's becoming evident that a change could be useful soon.

At the very least, I hope they begin using Shonn Greene. If Greene can produce where Jones can't, then it might be time for a change of the guard.

A very good point. This is why it's such a freakin' mystery. It's almost like a "tale of two backs." He was a very good one not so long ago. Could it be that he's going downhill that fast? Something is not right. This is why I'm saying rotate Greene in there and see if there's any improvement in YPC between the two.

The OL definitely doesn't seem to be playing up to it's ability, or advertised ability, but TJ definitely doesn't seem like he's trying very hard either.

I'm just thinking what his YPC would be if he didn't have those 2 big breaks against houston... yikes

I picked that quote because it was what it was what I wanted to respond spcifically to. I thought that's what the quoting tool was for and thought I used it correctly. Also what's objective about questioning a players' desire. You have no idea so how can that be objective? Plus my comment about the inspirational speech was about the halftime speech the "uninspired" Thomas Jones gave to the team, specifically the offense, at halftime against the Patriots not Rex. A game which we coincidently came out in the second half and completely dominated. Lastly, my relax comment goes to all Jets' fans getting their panties in a bunch about the running game. Don't worry about me cause, I'm cool as the other side of the pillow as I know there is NO PROBLEM with our running game.

He was 5th in the league last year, 10th in 07, 11th in 06, 9th in 05 and 19th on 04. Not sure what Stat your talking about?

I suspect if your a feature back and stay healthy you're going to be in the top 10 almost every year since many teams don't have a feature back.

Just a thought. Could it be that there is nothing wrong? You and some of the other posters on this board are overreacting after just 3 games? And the coaching staff knows just a little bit more than we do?

I told all my friends who took TJ in their fantasy drafts that it would be a struggle early because of the schedule, rookie QB and more touches for Leon?. So far he has surpassed my expectations with already one 100 yard/2 TD game under his belt. Maybe I'm the idiot.

Right, there's nothing wrong. The coaches were hoping Jones would average 60 yards a game...it's all part of the master plan.

You seem to have taken the word 'inspired' a bit too literally. Here, let me help you out:

    inspired
    Function: adjective
    Date: 15th century

: outstanding or brilliant in a way or to a degree suggestive of divine inspiration <gave an inspired performance>

What's objective about it? I've seen him play INSPIRED and fight for yards, and I've seen him play like he didn't care enough to fight for yards, and he's playing like the latter right now. That's objective.

Seeing that he is taking too long to wait for holes to open is objective. Watching how he plays on the field and not letting the fact that we won the game cloud what I am actually seeing. That's objective.

Saying that you have NO PROBLEM with our running game when our primary runningback has 14 carries for 20 yards? That's not objective.

Your pillow must be laced with hallucinogens or something.
