In fantasy baseball, I have a rule that I will never start an opposing pitcher when they're going up against the Mets. But this year, in fantasy football, I have Drew Brees. And as much as I hope the Jets shut him down, he's still Drew Brees, and has been ridiculous this season so far. Now, can I start Brees against us, or would that be a major faux-pas? I also have Sanchez and Flacco, and Jason Campbell (vs. Tampa), Kerry Collins (@Jax), and Shaun Hill (SF) are all on the waiver wire.

    What should I do?

I started Slaton against us and hoped we'd shut him down. And we did. You can still start Brees as long as you understand where your priorities lie. My only rule with fantasy is that I don't pick up Dolphins or Patriots. I broke that rule last year to take Ronnie Brown. I regretted it all season.

I'm in the same boat and I also have (ugh) Randy Moss (I haven't been able to trade him and he dropped so low I HAD to draft him). I benched Moss in week 2 and was not sorry, I will be doing the same with Brees. Our defense is too good, I'm sure your backup has a potentially better matchup.

I would be willing to say Campbell will light up the Bucs.

That's true. I just saw he has Flacco. I actually started the season with Romo and Flacco in one of my money leagues. I was able to trade Romo for Brandon Jacobs and am rolling with Flacco as my starter. I don't regret it in the slightest, given that I'm stacked everywhere else and he's turning into a consistent starter. He won't win for you, but he won't shit the bed, either.

Not for nothing, but Brees' numbers will come back down to earth sooner or later. Just sayin'.

I have the same dilemma. I have Brees and he was a stud in the first 2 weeks, but he did absolutely nothing for me last week vs the Bills. Since the Jets have a better pass defense(really hope they shut Brees down) I'm leaning towards starting Eli vs the Chiefs.

Drew Brees is the type of player you don't ever sit. He is a must-start, regardless of the matchup.

I wouldn't overmanage and look for a reason not to start the best QB in fantasy. I'm of the opinion that, if I lose, I don't want to lose with a stud on my bench.
