Are we judging Tennessee's D from this year or last? They struggled in the preseason and gave up more than 300 yards passing in each of the first two weeks of the season. It's early, but Schwartz and Haynesworth look to be even bigger losses than first thought. And yes, 3 is better than 1 but 0 is also better than 2. I thought they both played well, but I'd vote for Oher if I could.
So a guy who got 1 TD against a worse team deserves it more than a guy who got 3 TDs against a team that three weeks ago was a SB favorite. The Titan defense is way better than Washingtons. It might not be Sanchez's best game but winning his first three starts is just as big as Detroit breaking it's losing streak. No rookie QB has ever won their first three. Detroit still could still lose it's next 19 games. The other three guys in the voting each had one BIG play nothing more. Sanchez should win it yet again.
Four pages, not a single word about Percy Harvin? Don't get me wrong: Sanchez, definitely Sanchez. But Harvin deserves just as much credit as Stafford, I feel. Burt gets too much press.
^ Harvin has been good but nothing amazing to warrant votes. He's having himself a solid rookie year that projects into a talented career. But the QBs do more for an offense and Sanchez has basically won all three games because all three opponent have taken the run away and dared the rookie to beat them - he has. That is such an amazing feat. The argument can be made that he's done more than Matt Ryan because Ryan had Turner to eat up yards and give Ryan shorter 2nd and 3rd downs. Sanchez was perfect for two games on 3rd and long - that doesn't happen. That argument is a long and tiring one, but that would be the beginning of it. anyway - Harvin is doing very well for himself, but he's getting beat out by the QBs, and the QBs only. I also personally don't like Harvin. The draft bullshit with him ruined any chance of me seeing him in a positive light... makes every word I typed byast
OK, someone needs to straighten something out for me. Prevailing info is that Sanchez is the first starting NFL rookie to win his first three games, but a lot of talking heads keep saying SECOND NFL rookie since 1) 1970 or 2) since the AFL/NFL merger in 1970. However, none of these turds actually gives a NAME who this other mystery QB is. So, which is it? Trent Dilfer was guilty of this the other night. I'm sure Cakes knows the REAL TRUTH. Calling on Cakes...
there were debates with people over Harvin being a RB or a WR and him being the next great hybrid player or whatever and it got old quick.
^ I thought it was more so whether or not he could stay healthy in the NFL, going up against much bigger, stronger players.
ok....so sanchez sets the 3-0 record. did stafford also set some kind of record for winning first game in two years? just curious if the lioins were the worst team in nfl history. if so, then i guess they both set some kind of record.
Harvin failed a drug test for marijuana and everyone was speculating if he had a true position. I'd have been more likely to be a Harvin to the Jets fan if we didn't have Leon. To me they both bring similar things to the table. I'd vote for Stafford this week. Sanchez may have had a better statistical game but getting that first win for Detroit in however many games it was is a big deal.
A better statistical game. Sanchez scored 3 times but also turned the ball over. Stafford only scored once but didn't commit any turnovers and actually had a higher completion percentage than Sanchez. It's close, but considering how much that win meant, I'd vote for Stafford.
So being the first rookie--on a team you root for--to go 3-0 since the merger against a tough opponent means nothing in your book? Technically, Sanchez turned the ball over once. The pick was more Stuckey's stupid fault.
