Absolutely Hilarious!!!!:rofl:[/QUOTE] the argument isn't who was the worst coach, it was who was the worst hire, which also includes the situations surrounding their hire and other peripheral factors.
^ I'll admit it, I was one of them. Initially, he seemed intelligent, coy, and like he knew what he was doing -- especially after listening to Herm's blather. But then I gradually realized that he's just an android who had everyone fooled for a couple of seasons. Well, now, he failed the empathy test (any Philip K Dick fans out there?), and people are seeing him for what he really is.
Mangini: Worst coaching hire ever? And this coming from a national magazine..tock-tock-tick-tock http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/joe_posnanski/09/29/mangini/index.html?eref=sihpT1
And I thought I checked..sorry. Now I see why. This was an old story and I thought it had a dateline of today.
The Mangini hire was so terrible because he didn't have an opportunity to learn from the many errors he made and come back better off. His being hired right away was basically an affirmation of his poor strategy. Had he gone somewhere and been a coordinator for a little bit longer and moderated himself, he'd probably have learned a few things. As we're seeing, he seems to have gotten worse. I don't think he was ever this bad with the Jets. -X-
At least Tampa has an excuse – the Glazers are hemorrhaging cash with Manchester United so they are stripping the Bucs to the bone to sell them.
Mangini - Bad coaching hire. Worst coaching hire in 25 years. Cam Cameron 1-15 then done in Miami. I have to admit though, if things keep up like this in Cleveland, I may change my mind come December.
Cam Cameron was a seemingly good hire that turned out poorly, but he was clearly a reasonable head coaching candidate based on his resume. that's not the same as being a bad hire in regards to what the article is discussing, that the coaches history didn't warrant the hire. is that really that hard to grasp from the article?
He is 0-3 and that the QBs really aren't working for him either. As hopefully that things will change. But then again, maybe not!
Mangini did have two winning years out of three and was only a month removed from 8-3 and being near the top of the AFC. He could have walked into the interview, thrown Favre under the bus as the reason for the skid and landed himself a job. It may turn out bad, but it's not like Mangini had no resume going in. He was a much more questionable hire when the Jets hired him.
THE TEAM QUIT ON HIM.That is a condeming fact that should not allowed him another oppurtunity.i'd lay 3-1 he doesn't make it the entire season
The trap the Brown's fell into is the same the Jets fell into when they hired Mangini. Coaching trees just like a prize winning apple tree will not produce all apples of the same quality.
You have to look at what they're doing. It's far worse than what he ever did here. You look at Brady Quinn's stats- 45-74 for 400 yards- that's a paltry 5.4 YPA. You look at the receiving stats. Braylon Edwards and Mike Furrey have been targeted equally, even though Furrey is averaging 7.8 yards a reception. Really. Joshua Cribbs is averaging 4.3 yards a catch, so it looks like those screen plays that didn't work here aren't working there. The Browns have no pass plays over 30 yards this year. Sound familiar? Despite this, draft picks Mohammed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie are barely getting a sniff. You look at their 3.3 yards a carry rush offense. They average 1.2 yards a carry up the middle, and Mangini probably hasn't called more than 5 pitches all year. Guy is just God awful. You don't have to watch a game to read the stats and get a sense of what they're doing on offense. "Lewis up the gut for 2. Screen to Cribbs goes nowhere." -X-
