At this point I've really heard enough about Favre to last me a lifetime. One of my favorite things about Sanchez so far is that he isn't an ongoing reality show.
There is NO WAY Brady ever is able to make the throw Favre made 2 weeks ago against the 49ers. That's the difference between a gun slinger and a dink and dunker.
Different type of game. Favre wasn't given multiple opportunities to win it, if he was then NE would have won. What's the point? I'd rather win and have a guy step up when his team needs him than have a guy w/ a great arm and a 2 cent head. By the way, that pass was as lucky as could be. he was throwing it up for grabs and hoping for the best. There wasn't any skill invovled other than having a strong arm.
You mean like he had against the Jets week 2? There wasn't much luck involved in that pass at all. gtfoh. That was a perfectly thrown ball and a great catch. He didn't just throw it up, he saw the receiver coming across the back of the endzone and zipped it to him. Why do you refuse to ever give Favre credit?
Yeah, they were two different games. One was played in sub freezing temperatures and one was played in a climate controlled domed stadium. I'm not going to argue that Favre makes good decisions often because he doesn't but he has more of an impact on his teams victories than does someone who relies on short passes which is why I made my above comment. My point on Brady for years is that he lives off of his teammates (whether its Vinateri kicking GW FGs or Graham taking TE screen pass 50+ yards up the field)
Please man, it was a Hail Mary, he was laying face down on the ground by the time it was caught. You want to tell me the TD to Stuckey in the opener last year wasn't luck too? We all know Favre's pros and cons by now, no need to be such a fanboy.
That was anything but a hail mary. And he was hit from behind after he threw it. He didn't just throw the ball because he saw a defender coming.
It was a great throw, but any time you're heaving it into the end zone with no time on the clock and everybody down there, there's a lot of luck involved.
You're nuts. There was one receiver there. If it were a hail mary all the receivers would be standing in the endzone surrounded by defenders and Favre would have just chucked it up for grabs. He watched that receiver and threw a great pass that not many could make.
First off that was his 2nd game back and not the 2007 Pats and did we keep missing FGs setting him up w/ good FP? I must have missed that. great catch but that play was all luck. There was not any part of Favre that thought that play had any chance to be completed. he just threw as hard as he could to a spot and hoped and they got lucky. I give Favre credit, he's playing well so far. I thinkl he's always been overrated(at least since about 1998) and he ruined our season last year and I think he'll fade again this year. Yep one had an incredible homefield advantage and the other played on a neutral field. Why is BB's record so bad w/o Brady? why was NE getting worse every year before Brady stepped on the field? To say Brady doesn't have an immense impact is foolish and I know you are a better football fan than that.
This is the key. Last year around this time he had the 6 TD game for us, had a last minute TD to beat KC, nobody is arguing that he's doing well right now. Did anyone expect him not to have some good games? It's early October. Let's see how he holds up over 16 games after not training all off-season again.
It was a low percentage play, but it was not "all luck" homefield advantage that was not conducive to passing and yet the Packers still scored more than the Pats. Brady ran the Pats system well, but if it weren't for the system Brady is just another 6th round pick.
I think even Brett would admit it was luck. Brett used to thrive in the cold conditions in Lambeau. If the conditions weren't conducive to passing then why did the Giants throw 40 times and GB 35? The difference was Eli had no picks while Brett had 2. Brady is THE reason the pats had a dynasty. If the Pats didn't have him they wouldn't have a SB title right now. How come that system has never produced another big QB?
It's more difficult to throw in cold windy weather than it is in a dome. Just because they continued to throw doesn't mean it's easy to do sucessfully. Why was Brady so terrible in a climate controlled dome? The system is successful if you have the players to fit it. It's not a QB driven system like Bill Walsh's WCO. Vinny Testaverde's best season came while playing in that system in 1998. As a starter Vinny never had a higher Completion percent and as good of a TD / INT ratio. His previous completion percent high was in 1995 while playing for coach Bill Belichick. Lets see…Oh, Ray Lucas had a big impact on the Jets in 1999 after it was determined that Rick Mirer could not run this system. And after Bledsoe got hurt Brady came in and ran the system very well. I would take Brady in this system but I would not take him in a different system because he would not nearly be as successful. And just this past season Matt Cassell came in and led them to an 11-5 record by completing 63.4% of his passes with nearly a 2:1 TD:INT ratio and 7.2 YPA.
Brady wasn't terrible, he wasn't great but he wasn't terrible. he wasn't turning it over like Favre. Different system than what Vinny played in and why was Vinny not able to replicate that in 2000? and why was he not able to replicate that in Cleveland w/ Belichick? Why is BB's record so poor w/o Brady and so great w/ Brady if it's all about the system? How did ray Lucas do in 2000 when he had his shot? not good. Why couldn't Bledsoe run the system? Tom Brady is the best QB in the game, of his generation. he made Belichick and NE not the other way around.
Vinny had Keyshawn at WR and Parcells as head coach in 1998, to me that was the biggest difference. It's pretty hard to argue against Brady as the best QB in the game at this point in time, at least up until his injury. I think he'll be back 100% before this season is over if he isn't already.
He played horribly in that game. The NE offense set all sorts of records in 2007 and could only score 14. It's the "best offense in league history" and they could do nothing. It IS because they relied too much on Brady. It wasn't until they went back to the quick short dump off passes that they were finally able to move the ball. Charlie Weiss had left with BB to NE. NYJ were running a different system in 2000. In Cleveland they ran more and didn't use Weiss' system. However Vinny was a much better QB in Cleveland than he was when in TB improving is Comp. %, YDS / ATT and TD:INT ratio. He was turning the team around. Went to the playoffs and was 4-4 in 1995 when Modell announced he was going to move the team. That's a big distraction. He also made many mistakes that first time coaches make. He learned from them in New England. When he got to NE he took over a team that was out of shape. Take note of the 22 FA's he brought in for the 2001 season. Also, the reason they won in 2001 had more to do with a much improved defense and a much improved running game. Brady was an upgrade over Bledsoe because he could run the system better however, Brady was not the reason they were successful. Weiss was not there in 2000 and they were running a different system. Good question. Why couldn't Rick Mirer? This systems fits Brady better than it did Bledsoe. Especially in 2000 when Bledsoe was beaten up Your opinion, but he is not better than Manning. You way overstate Brady's impact on the team. He's a good QB that is a perfect fit for NE's offense. But a majority of the yards and impact of NE's passing plays are YAC.
At this point in time? There's already a handful of QBs that are better than him. Manning is clearly the best in the league at this point in time and Brees is better than Brady as well.
