I love this thread. I'm going to be a copy cat and make an interception thread. I would pick Pace but due to his suspension I'll go with Harris.
Like most I think that Pace would be the logical pick if he were playing a full season...but since he's not, I think he'll end up with around the same amount of sacks as Thomas and Harris. I'll go with BT for the win.
i?m really surprised about two things 1. No love for Ellis? He was our Sackleader last year, and Rex? sceme is more about getting your best players 1-on-1 with the OL, than creating a free rusher. 2. So many of you think that Harris will have the most sacks from the ILB spot. Ray Lewis is the most dominant ILB of the last 10 years, and Rex drew up the scemes all that time, he had 5 Sacks in his best season.
Harris..He is going to be Rex's QB dart. Rhodes is goiung to blow up too...just not with as many sacks.
Probably because the role of the 3-4 DE isn't to sack the QB. I understand this isn't a standard 3-4 but that was part of my reasoning. I also think Rex's scheme IS a lot about getting a free rusher to the QB. I went w/Harris mostly because of Rex's scheme. I think Harris is a perfect blitzer in it and can be dominant. He looks faster than ever. So long as we're getting consistent pressure I couldn't care less who has the most sacks. I hope they all have 6.
7 votes thus far for Scotty , shocked! Had this vote been 2 months ago, I'll bet that most would have said Scott. Curious
i'm backing gholston only because pace is suspended and i believe Ryan will use a lot of overload to free gholston up. even when Pace comes back I think he will get alot of pass rushing plays because he will have fresh legs from sitting on 1st and 2nd downs.
Bryan Thomas has all the talent in the world but tends to slack off for several games at a time. If Ryan can light a fire under him, Thomas could lead the team in sacks.
So, after week 5 David Harris has raced out to an early lead with 2 sacks. Just behind him and closing fast is Jamaal Westerman with 1 sack. Lets not forget Shaun Ellis and Bryan Thomas who share a sack. Hold onto your hats fellas, this race is WIDE open.
This is exactly the point. After 5 weeks we have 4 sacks. If we keep this up we will end at amazing 15 sacks! Last year Cleveland had 17. CLEVELAND!!! I think we are playing good defense, but to talk about sack-leaders, when its hard enough to get one every game, is just silly. In 2008 we had 41 for the season... so much for the Mangina... Im all for winning, but at some point our opponents will see, that we are not getting to their qb, and find more ways to beat us.
Other than monday, we have been in the QB's face all day, and simply havent been able to bring them down before they chuck it into the dirt. The one thing I think working against us, is that Ryan makes it blatantly obvious that he is blitzing and every QB that goes against us knows they have a maximum of 2.5 seconds to throw, so they are not holding the ball with the delusion they have time to throw it.
its painfully obvious the jets need a bonafide pass rusher to install into their defense... VG was supposed to be that guy but its bust period. imagine an abraham type guy in there coming off the edge..... jil
