Didn't care much about this game because we're going to win it; still pissed at those retards they call a football team - the Jets.

The Yankees face two pitchers they already beat in this series (assuming Hamels starts game 7)

Kept Lee in far too long. They had a six run lead and they would want to have the ability to bring him out of the bullpen in Game 7. Instead, he's left in far too long, almost surrenders the lead, and now who knows whether he'll feel up to pitching an inning or two in a potential Game 7?

I think Manuel did the right thing. They had to win that game. Obviously their pen is completely unreliable.

Like I've said already, this is the World Series. There are no tomorrows. You pitch until someone's arm falls off or until they are no longer effective.

In 2001, Randy Johnson threw 7 innings in a start in the World Series. The next day he pitched 1.1 innings. He wound up with 2 wins in the deal.

I expect to see Burnett on the mound at some point tomorrow night. If it goes 7, I fully expect to see Lee at some point, if not as the starter.

Please Yankees do not blow this. Philadelphia fans are already the most obnoxious.

It's hilarious to me how the media is trying to create controversy where there is none. What, Girardi was supposed to start Chad Gaudin on the road on 29 days rest? The guy can't get any lefties out, what do you think the Phillies would've done to him?

Then all this stuff about the Phillies having captured momentum...aren't they supposed to win a game at home with their best pitcher on the mound?

The Yankees are gonna be just fine. Hammering Pedro in the Bronx to win a World Series would be so fucking gratifying by the way.

    Yes.

The same thing they did to Burnett, only now the Yanks have to go with a poorer option in Game Six.
Yup. Which is why you don't waste bullets on low-probability shots.

    On this, I agree 100%.

Frankly, AJ Burnett was damn near unhittable his last time out. He gave the Yankees a chance to win the series, Gaudin did not. I don't believe in giving away games in the World Series (and make no mistake, starting Gaudin would have been absolutely handing the game over.)

On a different note, how good has David Robertson been? I'm going to be absolutely livid if the Yankees try to keep Hughes in the bullpen next season--let Hughes be the starter we all know he can be, and give Robertson the shot he deserves to be the 8th inning guy.

Symbolism is through the roof right now:

-1923 Yankees won the World Series in 6 games in their first year at Yankee Stadium

-Pettitte's won four straight big games with multiples of 3 (Game 6 of the ALCS, Game 3 of the ALDS, AL East clincher on September 27th, final game at the old Yankee Stadium on September 21st, 2008)

-November 4th 2001 was the day the last Yankee dynasty died.

He didn't start Lee on three days rest in Game 4. That would point to Lee being unavailable on two days rest after throwing 110+. You never know. We could see Lee anyway, but there would've been a better chance of him pitching and pitching effectively had Manuel taken him out after 6.

Sure. That's why you start him in Game 6, on full rest, to finish off the Phillies, in case the Yankees didn't win Game 5 with Gaudin (which was possible. Stranger things have happened).

Screw all that BS about Gaudin starting. I'm with you kinghenry. You play to win. Not to have a better chance at tomorrow.

Andy vs. Pedro at Yankee Stadium. Who would have thought that would be the pivotal game of the World Series back in April? You couldn't write a script better than this.

As for Robertson, we agree there as well. It's time to give him the 8th. Hughes to the rotation for good, make a decision once and for all on Joba, and Robertson gets the setup role.

the only game that exists is the game you are playing today. if one of your best pitchers is capable of throwing on three days rest in a clinching game, and you were going to pitch him on three days regardless, you pitch him.

yesterday, the only game the Yankees had to play was game 5, and they played it. game 6 didn't exist until that outcome was decided.

People are actually saying Gaudin should have started last night? After how Burnett pitched in G2 and his record in the postseason on short rest?

People are just looking for something to bitch about, jesus christ. Even if the Yankees win, I wonder how many knuckleheads will call for Girardi to be canned?
