Apparently the CS is trying to not embarrass him bc he's inactive this week, and probably for several weeks.
If the Jets really left Ahmad Carroll off the playing roster last week in favor of Gholston then they probably cost themselves a game by doing so. I'm assuming that Carroll was banged up and so they decided not to play him for that reason but if they picked Gholston over him then that loss is on Ryan.
I think Fowler was the guy who bumped Carroll off the roster, but IMO Woodhead should have been the odd man out. Neither Gholston nor Woodhead are assets to STs, but we need depth at OLB more than whatever it is Woodhead is supposed to be doing. Unless of course we were to use Woodhead at KR - in which case we should deactivate Miller. I really doubt they're making up a bogus injury just to make Gholston inactive for personnel reasons. To me that seems pointless.
making gholston inactive because of his play (or lack of) will create tons of negative press for both the team and gholston. it is something that no doubt has been done before.
Well he was made inactive for at least one game last season and I don't think they made up a bogus injury to excuse it. Everyone and their dog has written him off and forgotten about him already so no one's going to care if doesn't play this Sunday.
a bored beat writer or two wouldn't have made this a story this week? last year was more acceptable because they offered up the "he's a project" excuse. this year that excuse no longer exists.
Would you trade Gholston for a bus straight up? I believe a bus could be a pretty effective pass rusher...
The problem is many of you were screaming this 4 games into his career and also seem to find some odd euphoria in early jet picks being proclaimed as busts.
ding ding ding. some of us just wanted to give him a shot before throwing him into the scrap heap. i still want him to turn it around but at this point it seems obvious that he is nowhere near the player he should be.
I just heard on my way into work, and I was thinking that was the nail in our coffin. Our season is officially over, Jenkins, Leon, and now the Ghost. Who's next, Danny Woodhead??
I'm only interested in the final outcome when it comes to a player evaluation. Were the cries of his demise premature? Possibly. Were they accurate? Most definitely. Will the criticisms of him ring true well into the future when he's no longer a member of this team? Absolutely. Please don't lump me in with all early jets picks being labeled busts. Gholston for sure. Many others, not even close.
What the hell does him pulling a hammy halfway through his second season have to do with whether he's a bust or not?
Gholston may just become the worst draft pick in Jets history. We have had some real doozies through the year but I'm not sure any have done as little as Gholston has through nearly two seasons.
