Just got a text from the Jets. Said Kenwin Cummings was activated from the practice squad. I guess they didn't plan on getting a new return specialist like we all thought.

    Kenwin Cummings-LB- Jets Nov. 16 - 3:00 pm et

Jets signed OLB Kenwin Cummings from their practice squad.
The former undrafted free agent from Wingate gives the Jets pass rushing depth with 2008 first-round pick Vernon Gholston banged up and ineffective.

I think the writing is on the wall for Gholston.

Cummings will hopefully result in happy endings.

It's hard to say that while Gholston is hurt, but if he comes off the injury report and doesn't dress while Cummings activated for STs duty, I would believe that his days are numbered in green and white.

I'm surprised we haven't seen more of Westerman on Pass rushing downs...

I woulda Kept Carroll on and gotten rid of O'Connell but you know Belly woulda snatched him up this week.

Seems that 4th QB spot is adding a wrench to the roster.

and can we start using Woodhead! If not send his ass back to the PS!

can we send Woodhead back to the PS this year? The rules of the practice quad are fuzzy to me, but I thought if a player was activated during the year, he couldn't be placed back on the practice squad that season.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified. I think dumping a player, just to bring up another OLB, shows that Gholston isn't exactly "in favor" with the coaching staff. Especially considering the value Carroll had on STs. I know if I was Gholston, I wouldn't see this as good news.

I'm begnning to wonder, if Gholston is smart.....

Work out real hard in College... 21 Mil guar. Don't show up in the pro's...walk away a rich man...

Not to say that was his design in the 12th grade, but perhaps as he saw the opportunities it afforded him at a younger age, the realization of the larger possibility for a guy that doesn't seem to like football is not outside the realm of possibility.

At 4-5, we certainly could use somebody on the team with a name like Kenwin.

Wonder why they didn't cut someone like Fowler to take his place... oh well... I'm happy for Cummings, he lloked like a very physical player in pre-season.

I'm also happy we didn't cut Marquice Cole... I guess it means he's starting to have a major role on ST. I also think he's an ok CB, better than Coleman at least.

If Gholston is really injured, which I'd assume he is, then Cummings is just being brought in to fill a roster spot. We don't have great depth at LB.

How the hell did Gholston get banged up? Did he get a splinter in his ass from the bench?

I like Cummings, at least in pre-season he looked like he had good instincts for the ball, hopefully he gets a shot.

    FROM REX'S PRESSER:

    M. Cole beat Carroll to his ST spot (that's why Cole was active and Carroll wasn't). I also remember Rex saying Cole is a player who works his ass off.
When they asked Rex if there was more to it than just football performance he declined to answer (which makes me think yes).

Cummings was activated because he looked great on the scout team and they wanted to take a look at him.

Clearly we're going 7-0 down the stretch now.

He's not used to that much physical exertion at once! I hope the Union seeks a grievance against the coaching staff.

I've actually read that a lot of successful pros don't really like football. Mark Bavaro comes to mind.
