good point by Costas. This goes a long way towards locking up homefield for the Saints. Minnesota is now a real long shot to catch them.
Gotta agree with Tony...Pats don't look invincible, I can't bring myself to believe in the Bengals, SD has the best shot of knocking off the Colts in the playoffs, but their D is still somewhat suspect
but yours was pass interference and mine was just an illegal man downfield. didn't want to miss the chance to talk about the weirdness of replaying the down in such situations
they're 7-4! Not only are they not invincible, I don't think they can be considered elite at this point. Losses to Denver, Miami, and the Jets, three middling teams. Got destroyed in their "showdown" with an elite NFC team, New Orleans. Brady has not looked good lately. The defense is extremely shaky. I think Indy is not invincible, despite their being undefeated. If I could place such a bet, I'd bet against them being in the Super Bowl.
just for fun, here's how I have it: Elite tier: Minnesota, New Orleans, Indianapolis next step down: New England, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, San Diego and Arizona then would come the good teams (Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Denver, Green Bay, Giants, and Dallas, roughly).
agreed, not sure who comes up with those rules, especially when the actual penalty yardage doesn't equal each other... And what happens if they call pass interference on the person illegally downfield?
Can't really argue those...I might switch out GB for the Eagles though, depending on how tomorrow's game turns out. Both teams have laid some eggs this year, and both have had nice wins
All in all, I think Philly has been more impressive and I think they're definitely more talented. Anyway, Matt Schaub has a dislocated left shoulder and it seems unlikely that he'll play next week against the Rams.
I'd put Philly in the second tier for sure. I don't know that they'll ever go into the first with their style of defense. Their defense is so opportunistic that it leads to boom or bust styles of games. Green Bay could make a strong case for the 2nd tier tonight with a convincing win.
Looks like they really SHOULD have pulled in Warner near the end of the game last night: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/06/warner-injures-hip-in-big-win-over-vikings/
Good news for Aaron Rodgers (and by extension the Jets) - Ed Reed won't play tonight, and Terrell Suggs didn't even travel with the team.
Suggs is out as expected, but Reed was expected to be able to go. Both defenses are missing several key starters.
Keep an eye on Ravens' DE Dwan Edwards. He'll be a free agent in the off-season. We all know Rex likes bringing in his Baltimore guys.
I have my Donald Driver voodoo doll out for fantasy purposes. I'm either up by 12.3 or 18.3 depending on how the Meachem TD is ruled, but Driver could break my heart, especially in PPR.
