seriously...he deserves his own thread today. good blocking, great runs/execution on the wildcat, a really nice catch as a WR and an amazing return. for a "do it all guy" to perform so well in every role in a single game is *extremely* impressive
You're right. I've been a big Smith hater in the past but he really makes plays. That return (tho we didn't capitalize) was amazing. Also, Woodhead has really come on strong for us. We need to make sure he stays with us and gets more PT as well.
Does it matter ? We blew another game. 16 pts we missed out on. There goes the season, What a pathetic performance.
Smith was actually open pretty damn often. Sanchez just couldn't get the ball to him. Has Sanchez ever put touch on a ball aside from that last second pass to the ISS in the beginning of the season?
Brad Smith needs MORE touches, instead of getting the ball to Danny Woodhead those touches should be going to Smith. he makes things happen.
I think Woodhead may actually end up being a solid contributor in the future, but the time to experiment with him like that is not when your very alive playoff hopes are pinned on (thanks to the defense) a very winnable game. Have to agree with the sentiments in this thread that Brad Smith is an excellent players. I held out hope for this guy for a long time, and he seems finally to be clicking the way many of us had hoped. He just looks so much faster and more athletic than the rest of the players on the field, with a few exceptions. He needs more touches, and not with double reverses. He actually got injured on that double reverse last week.
He isn't doing much because Schotty probably got raped on a screen play when he was little and he is scared as hell to run one... but every time he does the midget makes mice catches. Smith is good in other types of roles... not the slot Woodhead is playing. Again this isn't to take anything away from Smith he is VERY important for ST duties and trick plays and a solit contributor on O... just saying him and Woodhead have different roles.
Whats is his YPC? Seems like it's always 8+ everytime he gets his hands on the ball. Solid player. As much hate as Mangini gets here, he gets credit for drafting these supplementary players that are making valuable contributions (Smith/Ihedigbo/DeVito). All are soldiers.
