Now with a win next week, the Jets would get the Bengals again, instead of the Pats in Round 1 of the playoffs. I think that's a much better matchup. My guess is the Bengals rest some guys next week, but at full strength, these teams play very similar - defense and run the football, and I like the Jets D and the Jets running game much better. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but things have broken perfectly for the Jets, and with a win next week, I feel like they would have a decent chance in the Wild Card round.
Win and we are the 5th seed and play Cincy again. That is the only outcome possible if we make the playoffs. It is at CIncy or at home watching.
I like the path of the 5 seed better then 6 seed. I'd much prefer Cinci, San Diego as opposed to NE, Indy. The Bengals are widely looked at as the weakest link of the Division winners.
The only way we get into the playoffs is if we beat Cincy which will keep them at the 4 seed and us at the 5 seed therefore there is no way for us to play anyone else but Cincy.
Definitely wrong. As of now, the Jets are 5 seed and Baltimore is 6. Jets can only play Cincy in the playoffs.
Well, that's wrong. If we, Baltimore, and Denver all win next week, we get the 5th seed. How? Well, with no head to head between all 3 teams, we'd all share a 7-5 conference schedule, which would mean moving to common opponents. As there are 4 teams common to all 3, the tiebreaker would apply The common opponents to all 3 teams: Cincinnati Indianapolis New England Oakland Our record against the 4 teams: 4 - 1 Baltimore's record against the 4 teams: 2 - 3 Denver's record against the 4 teams: 3 - 2 We take the 5th seed in that situation. The tiebreaking process is then repeated, in which situation Baltimore eliminates Denver based on head to head and takes the 6th seed.
Then why are we the 6th seed as of this minute? Or is CBS Playoff Race just wrong entirely? If they are, where is the official site for this info?
Dan Patrick just said that today's Giants loss was the final regular season game ever at Giants Stadium. What a moron (or more to the point, the research department at NBC is full of morons).
CBS is wrong. The official site is in my head. Trust it, or don't, but if the Jets win next week, we're the 5th seed. No matter what.
Dungy wa also adament about the fact that next weekends game was in Cincinatti. You choose what is going on at NBC.
How come a few hours ago, channels like NBC, SNY, NFL Network were all saying Jets are 5 seed right now, but now all the websites are saying theyre the 6 seed? wtf happened?
It is weird...these formulas are pretty clear. Maybe by mid-week they can figure it out. Bottom line is we win and were in. We control our own destiny which is unreal!
It'd be really strange to have to play the Bengals again a week later....I feel like it would be tough to beat them 2 straight weeks, but I'd still prefer them over the Pats in the first round.
The path for a 5 seed would be Cincy then Indy unless the 6 seed beats NE in NE, it is not a bracket and Indy will play the lowest seed left after the wc round.
